Take one seed of *Strychnos nux-vomica* (Maqianzi, 马钱子), one qian (approx. 3.73g) each of *Cassiae Semen* (Heiqiu, 黑丑) and *Cassiae Fructus* (Baiqiu, 白丑), three qian of raw *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Sheng Dahuang, 生大黄), and one qian of processed *Realgar* (Fei Xionghuang, 飞雄黄). Grind these four ingredients into a fine powder. First, decoct one red copper coin from the Yongzheng reign period in water to serve as the liquid vehicle for taking the powder. Take the medicine with the dregs. Cover yourself with a blanket and sleep for a while; after sweating, the toxin will be expelled through the stool. If blood streaks appear in the stool, the patient will recover.
During this period, there is no need to avoid red or green items, musical instruments making noise, sesame, ramie, or the sound of dogs. The only dietary restrictions are beef, dog meat, cold/raw foods, and wheat-based foods for forty-nine days.
For any wound that has been broken, grind bitter apricot seeds (*Prunus armeniaca* L.) into powder, mix with saliva, and apply to the affected area. Wrap with cloth so that the toxin naturally exits without causing ulceration; this is extremely effective. Previous methods often failed to address the root cause of poisoning. Since obtaining this prescription, I have used it for over twenty years, treating hundreds of verified cases. After taking this medicine, toxins are expelled via the stool: one dose for mild cases, two doses for severe cases; in all instances, the toxins are completely expelled. If symptoms have already manifested before taking this prescription—such as abdominal pain, slightly bluish eyes, and purplish gums—administer this prescription immediately. Even if diarrhea occurs, recovery is possible. Do not neglect it simply because the ingredients seem common and unremarkable.
Another prescription: In a windless place, urgently squeeze out the dark blood, wash the wound with salt water, and apply earthworm mud (*Lumbricus terrestris*) and soot from hundred herbs (*Baicaoshuang*). Within a few days, several red hairs will grow on the top of the head, visible under sunlight. Pluck them out urgently. Then, take seven or eight red earthworms from leek fields, split their bellies with a bamboo slice to remove the soil inside, rinse thoroughly with salt water, boil briefly in a small cup of good vinegar, and take with aged wine. Recovery occurs when toxins are expelled via the stool. Severe cases may require two doses. Note that using *Mylabris* (Banmao, 斑蝥) to treat mad dog bites often leads to death; beware of this.
Chew broad beans (*Vicia faba*) until pasted and apply to the site. Alternatively, burn cotton wadding to ash and apply; this also cures the condition. Or, crush fresh white sedge rhizome (*Imperatae Rhizoma*, Baimaogen) and apply; all are extremely effective.
Urgently apply rotten, soft chicken manure to the site to relieve pain and prevent suppuration. Additionally, chew raw chestnuts (*Castanea mollissima*) into a paste and apply.
Urgently wash the wound with salt water. Apply the saliva from the mouth of a rooster to the site. Alternatively, apply blood from the comb of a rooster. Or, place one large spider on the wound to absorb the toxin; once the spider dies from intoxication, the toxin is removed. Place the spider on aquatic plants to revive it. Alternatively, apply lampblack (Dengmei, 灯煤) to the site to relieve pain. Furthermore, scratch dandruff from the scalp and embed it into the bite wound; this results in healing.
