One single herb, Gentianae Radix (Longdancao), is boiled in a pottery vessel into an ointment. Dropped into the eyes, it can remove corneal opacities (Yunyi) even in cases of blindness. Do not neglect it because it seems ordinary.
Another prescription:炒 Xukucao (Prunellae Spica) 2 liang, Cu Chao Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma) 2 liang, Chao Sheng Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 4 qian. Grind them together into powder. Take 1.5 qian each time, mixed with clear tea water. It heals within a few days. Tested repeatedly with miraculous results, especially effective for severe pain at night. This is a prescription transmitted in a dream by Guanyin (Avalokitesvara).
Sishen Wan (Four Divine Pills): Select 1 jin of high-quality fresh red Gouqi (Lycii Fructus) from Ganzhou. Soak it in good wine overnight and divide it into four portions. One portion is stir-fried lightly with 2 liang of Chuanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium); one portion is stir-fried with Xiao Huixiang (Foeniculi Fructus); one portion is stir-fried with Hei Zhima (Sesami Semen). After stir-frying these three portions, discard the mixing agents and keep only the Gouqi. The fourth portion is stir-fried with 2 liang of finely ground Qingyan (Natrii Chloridum Purificatum) so that the salt penetrates the herb. Additionally, add Danggui Tou (Angelicae Sinensis Radix caput), Shengdi Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Bai Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), and Baifuling (Poria) each 4 liang. Grind all together into powder. Take 3-4 qian after lunch daily with warm water. Long-term use restores vision to that of a child. Repeated tests show miraculous efficacy with no failures.
Shengdi Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Shudi Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), and Chuanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium - seeds removed, closed-mouth variety not used) are taken in equal parts, ground into powder, and made into pills the size of wu zi (Chinese quince seeds) using honey. Take 50 pills each time with salted rice water.
Shanhu Zijin Gao (Coral Purple Gold Ointment): Bai Luganshi (Calamina) 1 liang (best if it floats on water; soak in urine of a young boy for seven days, then heat in a silver cinnabar furnace until red, soak again in urine for ten days, dry, and grind to fine powder); Huangdan (Lithargyrum) 1 liang (boil in water, filter three times, dry, and grind to fine powder); Ruxiang (Olibanum) and Moyao (Myrrha) each 2 qian (place in a clay pot with Dengxincao (Junci Medulla) 4 fen, stir-fry over low heat until smoke appears, remove the rush, and grind to fine powder); Haipiaoxiao (Sepiae Endoconcha) 2 qian (scrape off the shell, stir-fry slightly).
Tianci Gao (Heaven-Bestowed Ointment): Used for treating eye opacities. Zhu Xiucail from Yanzhou suddenly lost his sight and prayed day and night. He dreamed that the immortal Zhang Sanfeng taught him this prescription. Hao Xiaoshi (Natrii Sulfas) 1 liang is melted in a copper vessel, mixed with Fei Huangdan (Lithargyrum) 2 fen and Meihua Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum) 3 fen on top. Stir evenly with copper chopsticks, store in a porcelain bottle, seal with wax to prevent leakage. Apply a small amount to the eyes; it is extremely effective.
Another prescription: Treats eye diseases with redness, swelling, and pain that persist for a long time. Ruiren (Buckthorn Seed) - select clean ones, remove shells, grind finely, and remove all oil (if oil is not completely removed, it is ineffective). Mix with white honey for application.
Another prescription: Treats eye diseases that flare up and heal intermittently. Use Yanggan (Sheep Liver) 4 liang that has never seen water (avoid iron utensils). Pound it until extremely soft and mushy, mix with boiling water, and take orally. Taking it several times consecutively ensures no recurrence for ten years. Repeated tests show high efficacy.
Another prescription: Treats redness, swelling, and pain of the eyes where they cannot be opened for several days. Take one piece of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), wash and peel it. Scrape the juice using an ancient copper coin and apply to the eyes. It hurts initially but heals immediately after application.
Another prescription: Treats redness and swelling of the eyes. Use your own fresh urine. While still hot, gently wipe the eyes with a silk cloth, then close your eyes for a moment. This method uses "true qi" to dissipate Liver Heat. Do not use the beginning or end of the urine stream.
Another prescription: Treats poor night vision in old age. On September 23rd each year, wash the eyes once with decoction of Sangye (Mori Folium). This prevents dimness in old age and enables reading at night. Its wonders are infinite. Sangye should be harvested on May 5th, June 6th, or Li Dong (Start of Winter) for best results. Mix with equal parts of Hei Zhima (Sesami Semen) and make into honey pills named Fusang Wan (Mulberry Pill). It dispels wind-dampness, darkens hair, and brightens the eyes.
