凡胞衣不下,皆因产妇送儿力竭,无力送衣;或经停日久,外乘冷气则血道凝滞;又或

Any case of retained placenta (retained placenta) is due to the mother exhausting her strength during delivery and lacking the power to expel the placenta; or because the labor has been prolonged, allowing external cold qi to invade and cause blood stasis; or again because of weak constitution before delivery, with depleted Qi and Blood causing the placenta to remain. For these three situations, immediately decoct a large dose of Shenghua Tang (Transforming Stasis Decoction) and administer it. Once Qi and Blood are abundant and the abdomen harmonized, the placenta will naturally descend; alternatively, add 2 qian of Lu Jiao Hui (Deer Horn Ash), or take Yi Mu Wan (Motherwort Pill) delivered with Shenghua Tang. When the placenta fails to descend, the parturient must sit upright and wait, not lie down. If the umbilical cord is cut, a straw shoe must be tied to it. In cold months, when assisting the mother onto the bed, support her in a sitting position, cover her with a warm quilt, and frequently change clothes to keep the abdomen warm. With harmonized blood and a warm abdomen, the placenta will descend. However, after descent, she must continue taking several doses of Shenghua Tang. Once the abdominal pain and mass pain cease, then take Jiashen Shenghua Tang (Shenghua Tang with Added Ginseng). There are also cases where lochia flows into the uterus, causing distension that prevents expulsion. This is because after the baby is born, the uterus inevitably descends; thus, inside the abdomen, the uterine cavity resembles an inverted lotus leaf. Being inverted, it accumulates blood and fluid, leading to distension that hinders descent. Hold the infant securely and do not cut the umbilical cord. Only allow an experienced and knowledgeable midwife to insert two fingers of the right hand along the umbilical cord upwards until reaching the cervical os, then gently hook downwards. The accumulated blood will drain out, and the placenta will follow. This method is very simple and should be considered the first excellent method for expelling the placenta, far superior to using numerous medications. Medicinal efficacy never matches the rapid effect of manual techniques; therefore, experienced, sensible, and knowledgeable midwives are indispensable. Some people use the mother's own hair to tickle the throat to induce vomiting, hoping this will expel the placenta; this is by no means a good method!
Take 2-3 he of black beans, wash them clean, stir-fry until fragrant and cooked, add one large bowl of vinegar, boil five or six times until boiling vigorously, remove the beans, collect the juice, and divide into two doses for consumption. The placenta will then descend. This is a celestial prescription; although decocted with vinegar, it lacks any sour or unpleasant taste. It should be prepared in advance to ensure immediate efficacy.
Yi Mu Wan (Motherwort Pill): Treats leukorrhea (red and white discharge) in women, continuous abnormal lochia discharge, as well as various strange pains during pregnancy, postpartum, and menstruation. It treats all such conditions, hence the name "Benefiting Mother." It consists of a single herb: Motherwort (Yi Mu Cao), also known as Chong Wei Zi (Eclipta Seed) or Ye Tian Ma (Wild Gastrodia). Its stem grows leaves at opposite nodes; the leaves resemble those of Hemp (Huo Ma). The authentic variety blooms purple flowers between April and May; those with white flowers are incorrect. Harvest in May, dry in the sun, and grind the roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and seeds together into fine powder. Avoid using iron vessels. Refine honey to form pills the size of marbles. Take one pill per dose, dissolved in child's urine (Tong Bian) and warm wine, or dissolved in Shenghua Tang. If Yi Mu Wan was not prepared in advance, crush fresh Motherwort, extract the juice, mix with a little honey, and consume; the effect is even greater.
Another formula: Use black cow dung, amount unspecified, slightly roasted but kept moist, wrap in cloth, and bind it to the upper abdomen. The placenta will descend.
Another formula: Take 1-2 slices of Kaempferia Galanga (Shan Nai), let the parturient hold it in the mouth, swallow with saliva, and the placenta will naturally fall.
Another formula: Use 3 qian of Wuming Yi (Pyrolusite), which is the mineral used by lacquerers to refine oil. Mix evenly with an egg, then boil with one tea cup of aged rice vinegar and drink while hot. The placenta will shrink like a weight and descend. If it does not descend immediately, do not panic. Take another dose, and it will surely descend promptly.
Banxia San (Pinellia Powder): Treats parturients who are obese and phlegm-heavy, where phlegm obstructs the airway, leading to difficult labor, fetal death with desiccation, or failure of the placenta to descend after the fetus is born. Processed Pinellia Rhizome (Zhi Ban Xia), amount unspecified, ground into fine powder. Administer one cun chi (square inch spoonful) mixed with child's urine. Continue for three doses. Additionally, use nasal insufflation to induce sneezing, which is excellent for opening the orifices.
Miraculous Verified Formula for Difficult Labor: Raw Pinellia Rhizome (Sheng Ban Xia) and Akebia Root (Bai Lian), equal parts, ground together into fine powder. Whenever encountering difficult labor in women, whether lasting one or two days without birth, or malpresentations such as transverse or breech presentation, accompanied by retained placenta, urgently use one qian of this powder, mixed with unadulterated wine. It will invariably result in immediate delivery.
