This condition typically occurs on the thigh, presenting as a deep-seated bone abscess (Fugu Ju) without a head or pus. Use three qian of beeswax, three fen of finely ground ancient copper coins, and six walnut kernels. Mash the walnuts until paste-like, mix evenly with the powders, wrap well in bean curd skin (fupi), and take orally with wine on an empty stomach.
Use five qian of raw licorice root (Sheng Gancao) to boil a piece of very firm tofu. Apply this to the sore for approximately one shi (two hours), then remove. Separately, take five qian of calcined human hair (Xue Yu), three qian of water dragon bone (Shui Shuilong, i.e., slag from old ship bottoms), half a qian of lead monoxide (Miduoseng), two qian each of yellow wax and white wax (total four qian), and three qian of flesh-generating powder (Shengji San). Grind all into a fine powder. Boil in sesame oil to form an ointment. Apply generously; it will heal. This formula has proven effective repeatedly.
Take fresh radish and dry it in the shade for one to two days until the skin can be peeled off. Apply the radish skin to the affected area. Replace with fresh skin when it dries out.
Rub garlic on the sole of the foot until heat is generated; symptoms will subside. Additionally, eat one clove of raw garlic; the condition will resolve spontaneously.
If leg cramps (Zhuanjin) radiate upward into the abdomen, urgent treatment is required. If not treated promptly, pain rushing to the heart may prove fatal. Refer to the formula in Volume 8 containing papaya (Mugua), evodia fruit (Wuzhuyu), and salt, which is most effective. Also, apply mashed garlic to the soles of the feet. Administer a decoction of Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) added with wine-fried scutellaria root (Huangqin) and safflower (Honghua). If caused by wind-cold-dampness, add atranoxylon rhizome (Cangzhu) and pinellia tuber (Nanxing) to the decoction; efficacy is immediate.
Eight liang of raw astragalus root (Sheng Huangqi), three qian of cinnamon twig (Rougui), four liang of coix seed (Yimi), two liang of cloud poria (Yun Ling), two liang of scorched atractylodes macrocephala rhizome (Jiao Baizhu), and five qian of saposhnikovia root (Fangfeng). Add ten bowls of water, decoct until two bowls remain. Divide into two doses. Take one dose in the morning and one before bed. After taking the medicine, cover with blankets to induce sweating. Gradually remove the blankets, avoid wind, and allow sweat to dry naturally.
If itching is unbearable and scratching breaks the skin causing fluid discharge, burn goose palm skin to ash, grind into powder, and apply to the area; it will heal immediately.
Another formula for cold-damp Hong Kong Foot (Zu Shi): One liang of Sichuan pepper (Huajiao), one bunch of green onion, three large slices of ginger. Add several bowls of water, decoct, and use the steam for fumigation and washing. Swelling subsides, and pain stops.
Apply freshly mashed Ruyi Cao (likely referring to a specific local herb, literally "As-You-Wish Grass"). Alternatively, dry Ruyi Cao can be ground into powder, mixed with egg white, and applied; this is also excellent.
One qian of cimicifuga rhizome (Shengma), one qian of kudzu root (Gegen), one qian of angelica pubescens root (Duhuo), one qian of realgar (Xionghuang), one qian of borneol (Zhangnao), two qian of borax (Pengsha), and five fen of borneol (Bingpian). Grind all these herbs into a fine powder, store in a porcelain bottle, and apply as needed. If the wound is broken with pus, use cuttlefish bone (Haipiaoxiao) and human excrement ash (Renzhongbai) in equal parts, grind into powder, add appropriate amount of borneol (Bingpian), and apply; it will heal.
Moisture and rotting between toes, redness, swelling, itching, and pain in the toe webs, with skin breaking and fluid discharge upon scratching, are often caused by exposure to damp water qi. Use tender leaves of Chinese tallow tree (Wushu), soak in water until soft, wipe dry, and insert/clamp between the toes. Pain stops immediately, fluid converges, and healing occurs.
Additionally, chewing tea leaves and applying them to the site is also effective. If women develop white blisters on their ankles due to dampness, accompanied by painful rotting, applying this remedy can relieve pain and show results.
Another formula: Five qian of calcined alum (Kufan), three qian each of gypsum (Shigao), calomel (Qingfen), minium (Huandan), and lead monoxide (Miduoseng). Grind together into a fine powder and apply.
Yet another formula: One liang of calcined calamine (Luganshi), fired and soaked three times in children's urine (Tongbian), ground into fine powder. Add six fen of camphor (Zhangnao) and three fen of borneol (Bingpian). Grind uniformly, mix well, and apply using chicken wing feathers as a brush.
Yet another formula: One liang each of dictamnus root (Baixianpi) and sulfur (Liuhuang), five qian of pine rosin (Songxiang). Grind into powder, roll into strips using paper, ignite to produce smoke, and fumigate the affected area; it will heal.
