To wash ulcerated sores and carbuncles. Take Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), Agastaches Herba (Huoxiang), Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma (Maoxiang), Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu), and Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng), each 3 qian; Costus Root (Muxiang) and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao), each 1 qian. Decoct in water for a few boils, remove the dregs, and wash the affected area with the liquid.
Xue Lizhai stated: This is an aromatic preparation. Qi and blood flow smoothly upon smelling fragrance but stagnate upon smelling foul odors. It is suitable for use when sores are nearly healed but not completely. If there is necrotic tissue (Yu Rou), one should first apply Xionghuang Jiedu San to resolve it, then wash with this prescription. It is necessary to immediately apply a plaster for protection to prevent wind pathogens from entering, allowing muscle tissue to regenerate easily until the wound closes. It is strictly forbidden to use herbs that promote flesh regeneration at this stage.
For treating ulcerated sores with unbearable pain unresponsive to various medications. Take Frankincense (Ruxiang) and Myrrh (Moyao), each 2 qian; Halloysitum Rubrum (Hanshuishi) and Talcum (Huashi), each 4 qian.
For treating non-healing wounds. Take Costus Root (Muxiang) and Calomelas (Qingfen), each 2 qian; Minium (Huandan) and Calcined Alum (Kufan), each 5 qian. Grind all into fine powder, mix evenly with pig bile, dry, grind again into fine powder, and sprinkle onto the affected area.
Lizhai stated: This is a preparation for detoxification, removing necrotic tissue, and extracting pus, rather than a direct flesh-regenerating agent. When toxins are fully expelled, flesh regenerates naturally. It is common for patients to use Dragon Bone (Longgu) or Sanguis Draconis (Xuexie) to seek flesh regeneration, unaware that if residual toxins remain, flesh cannot grow, leading to increased rotting. This prescription demonstrates profound insight.
Note: Using the above two prescriptions together not only relieves pain but also promotes flesh regeneration, yielding remarkable results.
For treating Ding poison (carbuncle toxin) and all kinds of malignant sores with swelling and pain. Take Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin), Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina (Yazao), Borax (Pengsha), Yangcha, and Shangpian in equal parts. Grind into powder. In the early stage, mix with spring water and apply topically; if not yet suppurated, it can dissipate; if suppurated, it prevents the spread of toxicity.
For treating various malignant sores with foul-smelling ulcers. Take Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix (Hanfangji), Akebiae Caulis (Tongcao), and Zhuanghuang, each 1 liang. Grind into powder. It can be decocted for washing, mixed with water for topical application, or applied dry. It is highly effective.
Also known as Biyu Gao. For treating chronic ulcers that have persisted for years, causing pain and failing to heal. Take Calomelas (Qingfen) and Hangfen, each 1 liang; Beeswite (Baila) 5 qian; Frankincense (Ruxiang) and Myrrh (Moyao), each 1 qian; Pig Fat (Zhuyou) 4 liang. Melt together with white vinegar. Pour into a large bowl after a short while, mix evenly with the remaining drugs, allow to cool and solidify, then store. When using, take one spoonful, spread on oil paper or silk, clean the affected area with scallion water first, and apply directly to the lesion.
