Chew a lychee into a paste and apply it to the wound; it will heal immediately. Alternatively, burn *Mylabris* (Bānmáo) to ash, add a small amount of *Moschus* (Shèxiāng), mix with saliva, and apply. Or, apply cat's saliva to the affected area.
Yanjing Gao (Tobacco Oil Paste): Whenever bitten by a venomous snake, if the malignant toxin attacks the heart, death is inevitable within half a day. Immediately take the tobacco oil from inside a bamboo or wooden pipe stem (also known as "tobacco feces," which is dark brown like soy sauce). Wash it out with cold water and drink one or two bowls. For those with severe poisoning, the taste will be sweet rather than spicy; drinking more is advisable. If the wound pain is severe, indicating that fang fragments remain inside, rubbing the area frequently with tobacco oil will help expel them. This is the premier miraculous formula for snake bites; do not doubt it and thereby harm yourself. During the 8th and 9th years of the Daoguang reign, in Chongshan County, western Guangdong, a farmer was bitten by a venomous snake that coiled around him tightly. He urgently drank several bowls of tobacco water and dripped tobacco oil into the snake's mouth. The snake immediately released its grip, fell to the ground, and died, while the farmer remained unharmed.
Another prescription: A person bitten by a snake fell into immediate unconsciousness, with their arm swelling like a drum. Shortly after, the skin over the entire body swelled and turned yellow-black. A Daoist priest mixed one jin (approx. 500g) of powdered *Angelica dahurica* (Xiāngbáizhǐ) with freshly drawn well water and administered it orally. The patient felt rumbling sounds in the umbilical region, and yellow fluid mixed with water flowed out from the wound. After a long while, they recovered.
Again, a person suffered a snake bite on one foot, and various medicines proved ineffective. Later, the necrotic flesh was washed clean with fresh well water, and powdered *Angelica dahurica* mixed with a small amount of *Vitriolum* (Dǎnfán) and *Moschus* (Shèxiāng) was applied. Foul-smelling fluid drained out, and the limb healed flat within a month.
Another prescription: Use powdered *Fritillaria cirrhosa* (Chuānbèimǔ), mix with wine, and drink as much as possible. Shortly thereafter, the wine will flow out from the wound. Once the flow stops, apply the dregs to the wound. This is effective even when the patient is near death.
Another prescription: Grind two knives together in water, collect the water, and drink it. This can save someone even if they are in excruciating pain nearing death. This formula was transmitted by a snake doctor who claimed to be an immortal.
Another prescription: Make a small hole in an eggshell, place the opening against the wound, and hold it there. After a short while, the contents of the egg will turn black. Replace the egg each time it turns black until the egg no longer changes color (use chicken eggs, not duck eggs). In cases where a person is bitten by a snake and experiences sudden, severe swelling, tie the swollen area tightly with hair to prevent the spread of toxic vapors.
Another prescription: Treat using the Toad Venom Extraction Method (see Volume 11, Formulas for Carbuncles and Sores), or use the Spider Venom Extraction Method (see Volume 2, Hand Section).
Another prescription: Mix 1 liang of *Trogopterus Dung* (Wǔlíngzhī) and 5 qian of *Realgar* (Xiónghuáng) into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with wine. For those who do not drink alcohol, mix with boiled water. Apply the remaining powder to the wound. This can save patients even in critical condition.
Another prescription: Crush fresh tender leaves of *Vitex negundo* (Nèn Huángjīng Yè) (grown in wild areas, available in pharmacies; fresh leaves are preferred, ideally seven leaves) and apply the juice to the wound. This is extremely effective.
