If there is fullness in the heart and abdomen, where one can eat in the morning but not in the evening, this is due to the deficiency of Spleen Yuan (the fundamental energy of the Spleen), which fails to control Water Qi (fluid metabolism). Consequently, Water Qi ascends and infiltrates the Earth (Spleen/Stomach). When the Earth is damp, it cannot transform and transport water and grain.
The pulse is deep, solid, and slippery. The disease is named Gu Zhang (Grain Distension). It is suitable to use Jishi Li (Chicken Dropping Fermented Liquid) and Sanleng Wan (Burreed Pill).

If the abdomen is distended like a drum, with prominent abdominal veins, sallow complexion, and a hollow sound upon percussion that does not indent upon pressure, this is due to long-term deficiency of the Spleen and Kidney, stagnation of Qi that fails to disperse, obstruction of the Qi pathway, and transverse flooding of Water Qi.
Cases with mild symptoms are difficult to treat; cases with umbilical protrusion are difficult to treat; cases with free stool are adverse. There are also cases of generalized edema, originally originating from Water Qi.
