(Indicated for tendon stiffness. From *Suwen: Yuji Zhenzang Lun* [Basic Questions: Discourse on the True Viscera of the Yellow Emperor])
Abdominal pain resembling gu poisoning occurs when pathogenic factors from the Kidney transmit to the Heart, causing the pulses to draw upon each other resulting in stiffness; with a deficiency of essence and fluids, the vessels fail to nourish, leading to tension and stiffness.
Jiajian Jianzhong Tang (Modified Cinnamon Twig Decoction) is indicated: It treats conditions where diseases mutually induce tension and stiffness, as well as the Five Exhaustions and Seven Injuries (a general term for various chronic deficiency syndromes), frequent urination, and abdominal pain making it difficult to stand.
Ingredients: Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Gancao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Guigui (Cinnamon Twig), Baifuling (Poria), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed), Nongpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, prepared with fresh ginger, each 1 liang); Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Scapulae), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, sliced), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, each 4 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Take 3 qian per dose, add 1.5 sheng of water, 3 slices of fresh ginger, 1 jujube, and a small amount of maltose. Decoct until 1 sheng remains. Take warm, discard the dregs.

The pathogen originates below the Lung, manifesting as neck stiffness, blurred vision, expectoration of saliva and mucus, aversion to wind. This is Renfeng (Kidney Wind) entering the Lung, causing chills and tremors, thus difficulty in bending and stretching, forming Laofeng (Labor-induced Wind).
Xiongqi Wan (Ligusticum and Aurantium Pill) is indicated: It treats Laofeng, characterized by neck stiffness, blurred vision, Lung heat obstructing upwards, thick sputum, throat discomfort, and dizziness of the head and eyes.
Ingredients: Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, stir-baked with bran, endocarp removed, equal parts).

The body feels cold not due to insufficient clothing, nor is the interior affected by external cold. Biqi (Bi Qi syndrome) refers to the stagnation of Qi and Blood, feeling as if emerging from water; it does not necessarily require injury by cold pathogens to occur.
Fuzi Wan (Aconite Pill) is indicated: It treats Biqi with cold invasion, Yang deficiency and Yin abundance, where the whole body feels as if emerging from water.
Ingredients: Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, processed), Chuanyutou (Sichuan Aconite Root, processed; these two are crushed together, stir-baked until yellow before use), Guigui (Cinnamon Twig), Chuanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium), Changpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), Gancao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma, each 4 liang); Gusuibu (Drynariae Rhizoma, stir-baked), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, each 2 liang).
