The patient presents with cough, accompanied by alternating chills and fever, pain in the lower back and waist radiating from the cough, or recurrent wheezing and chest fullness; this is caused by kidney injury due to excessive sexual activity. The patient presents with epigastric and abdominal distension and fullness, stabbing pain in the heart region, and anorexia; this is caused by spleen injury due to irregular eating habits (hunger and satiety). The patient presents with cough, pain on the left side of the hypochondrium radiating to the lower abdomen, knees, and wrists; this is caused by liver injury due to extreme fatigue. The patient presents with cough, expectoration of white saliva, dry mouth, and hoarseness; this is caused by lung injury due to loud shouting. The patient presents with cough, irritability and heat sensation, spontaneous sweating, dry throat, and hemoptysis; this is caused by heart injury due mental exertion and overthinking. All these cases belong to the "neither internal nor external causes" category. When diagnosing the pulse, one should judge according to the specific category. For instance, if the chi (cun) pulse is floating, choppy, and rapid, it indicates kidney injury; if the right guan pulse is soggy, it indicates spleen injury due to dietary factors; if the left guan pulse is wiry and short, it indicates liver injury due to extreme fatigue. If the renying (carotid artery) and qikou (radial artery) pulses do not show abnormalities corresponding to external or internal causes, it belongs to neither internal nor external causes, and other cases can be deduced by analogy.
