Pain relief and heart-clearing, promoting Qi circulation and blood activation are as miraculous as divine.
Caowu (Aconiti Kusnezoffii Radix, peeled tip, raw) Xuruxiang (Frankincense, fire-roasted) Moyao (Myrrh, fire-roasted) Wulingzhi (Trogopteri Dung, three taels each) Shengmoxiang (Musk, a small amount)
The above ingredients are ground into powder, mixed with wine paste to form pills the size of a finger joint, coated with five qian of cinnabar powder. Take one pill per dose, grind it in mint and fresh ginger juice, and the pain will cease.
In the human body, when Qi and blood circulate smoothly, health is maintained. If there is disharmony between cold and heat, irregular emotions, or unregulated diet, even slight stagnation and accumulation can manifest according to the affected area.
Yong and Jie (superficial skin abscesses): deep ones cause pain upon light palpation; superficial ones require firm pressure to elicit pain. Softness with slow rebound indicates pus presence; hardness without rebound indicates no pus. Redness, swelling, and elevation signify excess patterns; softness, flaccidity, and cold swelling indicate deficiency patterns. In the initial stage, it is appropriate to disperse heat and extract toxins, using external washing and horn application to heal scars, which is a primary method. Once ulcerated, drain pus and relieve pain, wash morning and evening to vent toxic vapors, and apply agents to promote tissue regeneration and scabbing after pus is exhausted. Treat sequentially without panic or disorder, nor be rigid; assess severity, morphology, and prognosis. For cold patterns, warm them; for heat patterns, clear them; for deficiency patterns, tonify them; for excess patterns, drain them. Guide with acupuncture and moxibustion.
Fuguju (deep bone abscess). Xinyong (heart abscess) arises from heat in the Heart Meridian, often due to excessive alcohol consumption or preference for hot foods, leading to accumulated heat that persists and steams outward, causing Qi and blood stagnation. Though seemingly dangerous, it is treatable. Use formulas that support the interior and invigorate blood to expel external pathogens. If swelling is elevated and not depressed, recovery is assured. If it sinks inward, do not rely solely on this. If appetite is lost, urgently strengthen the Spleen; if appetite remains and the wound exposes fascia, it is not harmful provided it is kept clean and topical agents promoting flesh growth are applied around the edges for natural healing. Shenyong (kidney abscess) corresponds to the internal Kidney, resulting from Kidney Qi decline. Protruding red skin is easy to heal; sinking black skin is difficult. Clear spirit, ruddy complexion, normal diet, and frequent rising with little sleep are good signs. Dark yellow complexion and loss of appetite are worrying; careful and rapid treatment is needed. Feiyong (lung abscess) results from improper care, Qi and blood injury, and invasion of Wind-Cold, lodging in the Lung, accompanied by pathogenic heat, causing Qi aggregation, chills and fever, and a rapid, full pulse. Changyong (intestinal abscess) involves conflict between Ying and Wei, turbid Qi, lower abdominal swelling, dysuria or constipation, sweating, or chills and fever. Tight abdominal skin with soft palpation and no fever indicates Yin-cold; hard lower abdomen with pain upon palpation and fever indicates Heat binding. Rapid pulse indicates formed pus, contraindicating purgation; slow-tight pulse indicates unformed pus, where purging blood stasis may lead to cure. Fuguju causes deep pain unrelieved by palpation, adhering to bone, with rotting pus and bone fragments; healing occurs only when all debris is expelled. Treatment requires dispersing heat, removing toxins, and warming the Kidney, avoiding pure cooling agents. Acupuncture and cauterization should be used carefully based on depth; extracting the root facilitates healing. Otherwise, toxins spread along meridians, causing generalized edema and sudden death—regrettable! During illness, symptoms often exceed external signs: thirst before ulceration indicates organ dryness; diarrhea with excessive drinking indicates fluid loss; thirst after ulceration indicates loss of fluids via pus and blood; sudden Spleen-Stomach deficiency leads to diarrhea; body weakness with Cold causes persistent cough; rebellious Qi with Heat causes chest phlegm; unvented Heat toxin causes constipation; toxic vapors pressing on the Heart cause vomiting, hiccups, and palpitations; Yin-Yang conflict causes Qi-blood disharmony and alternating chills/fever; organ damage causes hematochezia; external toxin attack causes extreme restlessness. Large-formula herbal treatments are required. Regarding various sores: Dingchuang (hard carbuncle) contains toxic vapors, with a black, hard head like a nail, red borders like fire, raised scars, severe itching/pain, turning black, then swelling, becoming wet and rotten, penetrating deep into muscle like a needle hole; external signs include heart fright, headache, stiffness, aversion to cold, limb pain, alternating chills/fever, dark red/black spots on cheeks/tongue; if toxin enters the heart, causing irritability, vomiting, confusion, and lethargy, death is imminent. Treatment requires clearing the Heart, moving blood, breaking toxicity, and extracting the carbuncle for potential cure. Luoli (scrofula) occurs between the neck and axilla, caused by childhood anger, worry, fear, or depression leading to nodules, accumulating Wind-Heat toxin, causing swelling, weeping, and recurrence, spreading to axilla/chest; external signs include alternating chills/fever, pain or no pain. Treatment uses Blatta orientalis and Euphorbia kansui to expel roots via urine (as powder, blood clots, or rotting meat), verifying efficacy. Delayed treatment is futile. Louchuang (fistula) often occurs in neck, axilla, or anus; delayed treatment causes chills/fever. Any abscess with retained pus, necrotic flesh, or dead bone becomes a fistula. Treatment warms and disperses Wind-Cold, consolidates fluids, generates tissue, avoids cold-astringent drugs, ensures recovery, and requires abstinence from sexual activity. Yinzhen (urticaria) involves Wind-Heat at the exterior; hot weather with Dryness causes red rash; cold weather with Cold causes white rash. Treatment promotes Qi movement to resolve it. Scabies and tinea vary but result from Spleen-Lung Wind-Heat or chronic Heart-Kidney deficiency. Heat patterns require cooling blood and detoxifying; cold patterns require clearing the Heart and warming the Kidney, ensuring recovery.
