281. The pattern of Shaoyin disease (Shaoyin stage disease) is characterized by a faint and fine pulse, and a desire only to sleep.
282. In Shaoyin disease, there is a desire to vomit but inability to do so, vexation in the heart, and a desire only to sleep. If spontaneous diarrhea and thirst occur after five or six days, it belongs to Shaoyin disease. The thirst is due to deficiency, leading the patient to drink water for self-rescue. If the urine is clear and white, all signs of Shaoyin disease are present. The white urine is caused by deficiency and cold in the Lower Jiao (Lower Burner), which fails to control fluids, resulting in clear color.
283. If the patient's pulses at all three positions (Cun, Guan, Chi) are tight, but sweating occurs paradoxically, it indicates Yang collapse. This belongs to Shaoyin disease; according to treatment principles, there should be sore throat accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea.
284. In Shaoyin disease, if coughing, diarrhea, and delirium occur, it is due to being forced by fire therapy. Urination will necessarily be difficult because sweating was forcibly induced from the Shaoyin stage.
285. In Shaoyin disease, if the pulse is fine, deep, and rapid, the disease is in the Interior, and sweating therapy must not be used.
286. In Shaoyin disease, if the pulse is faint, sweating therapy must not be used, as it causes Yang collapse. If Yang is already deficient and the Chi pulse is weak and choppy, purging therapy must also not be used.
287. In Shaoyin disease, if the pulse is tight, and spontaneous diarrhea occurs on the seventh or eighth day, with the pulse suddenly becoming faint, hands and feet becoming warm paradoxically, and the tight pulse disappearing, it indicates impending resolution. Although there may be vexation and diarrhea, spontaneous recovery will occur.
288. In Shaoyin disease with diarrhea, if the diarrhea stops spontaneously, and there is aversion to cold with curled-up posture, but hands and feet are warm, the condition is treatable.
289. In Shaoyin disease, if there is aversion to cold with curled-up posture, occasional spontaneous vexation, and a desire to remove clothing and bedding, the condition is treatable.
290. In Shaoyin Wind-Strike (Wind evil attacking Shaoyin channel), if the Yang pulse (Cun) is faint and the Yin pulse (Chi) is floating, it indicates impending recovery.
291. The time when Shaoyin disease tends to resolve is from Zi hour to Yin hour.
292. In Shaoyin disease, if there is vomiting and diarrhea, but hands and feet are not cold inversely, and fever occurs paradoxically, it is not fatal. If the pulse is imperceptible, moxibustion on Shaoyin points for seven cones is indicated.
293. In Shaoyin disease, if after eight or nine days, the whole body including hands and feet becomes hot, it is because heat is in the Bladder, and hematochezia (blood in stool) will necessarily occur.
294. In Shaoyin disease, if there is only reversal cold of limbs without sweating, but sweating is forcibly induced, it will inevitably disturb the blood. It is unknown from which orifice the blood will exit; it may come from the mouth and nose, or from the eyes. This is called Lower Reversal and Upper Exhaustion, which is difficult to treat.
295. In Shaoyin disease, if there is aversion to cold, curled-up body posture, diarrhea, and inverse cold of hands and feet, it is incurable.
296. In Shaoyin disease, if there is vomiting, diarrhea, agitation and vexation, and reversal cold of the four limbs, it is a fatal pattern.
297. In Shaoyin disease, if diarrhea stops but dizziness occurs, with frequent spontaneous sensation of clouded vision, it is a fatal pattern.
298. In Shaoyin disease, if there is reversal cold of the four limbs, aversion to cold, curled-up body posture, imperceptible pulse, no vexation but agitation, it is a fatal pattern. (Another version states: vomiting, diarrhea, and agitated reversal constitute a fatal pattern.)
299. In Shaoyin disease, if after six or seven days, breathing becomes shallow and rapid (Xi Gao), it is a fatal pattern.
300. In Shaoyin disease, if the pulse is faint, fine, and deep, with a desire only to lie down, sweating without vexation, and spontaneous desire to vomit, and if spontaneous diarrhea occurs on the fifth or sixth day, followed by vexation and agitation preventing sleep, it is a fatal pattern.
