For panting with a faint and choppy pulse:
Shu Di (3 liang) Dang Gui (7 qian) Gan Cao (1 qian)
Decoct in water and take orally.
This syndrome is common among women.
In general, when the human body bleeds, it is because the blood fails to return to the meridians due to pathology, bleeding upwards or downwards, or on the limbs and skin, in various places. Blood circulates within the meridians, moving externally through the skin and hair, centrally through the Zang-Fu organs, internally through the sinews and bones, upwards to the head and face and both hands, and downwards to urination and defecation, both feet, and the umbilicus. The entire body consists of blood pathways; once the blood fails to return to the meridians, it naturally flows recklessly in various places, penetrating any opening and leaking from any hole. In severe cases, there is vomiting, or bleeding appears on the skin, emerges from between the teeth, seeps from the umbilical and abdominal area, or appears in urine and stool. In all these cases, one should follow its nature to guide it back to the meridians. The prescription is:
Shu Di (5 qian) Sheng Di (5 qian) Dang Gui (3 qian) Bai Shao (3 qian) Chuan Xiong (1 qian) Hei Jing Jie (1 qian) Qian Cao (1 qian) Gan Cao (1 qian)
Decoct in water and take orally.
This prescription is essentially Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) with added ingredients. Its brilliance lies in using Qian Cao (Moslae Herba) and Jing Jie (Schizonepetae Herba) to guide the blood back to the meridians. (If one does not violate or disrupt its nature, the blood will naturally return to the meridians, and each will remain distinct without interfering with the others.)
When a person is injured by summer-heat, suddenly vomiting a basin full of blood, people often attribute it to Yin deficiency. However, one must understand that hematemesis due to Yin deficiency differs from that due to Yang deficiency.
Hematemesis due to Yin deficiency presents with a calm demeanor, unlike the restlessness and agitation seen in Yang deficiency.
Yang deficiency [Note: Context implies Yang heat/fire excess based on symptoms described, though text says Yang Xu, likely a typo for Yang Re or similar in original context, but translating literally as per instruction] manifests as intense heat and thirst, desiring cold water, with prickles on the tongue, unlike Yin deficiency where there is no thirst and the tongue is slippery. The treatment method should be to clear Stomach fire, without necessarily stopping the bleeding. The prescription is:
Sheng Shi Gao (3 qian) Qing Hao (5 qian) Xiang Ru (3 qian) Jing Jie (1 qian) Dang Gui (3 qian) Ren Shen (3 qian)
Decoct in water and take orally.
This prescription is a miraculous agent for hematemesis due to Yang syndromes. Although the formula contains herbs that resolve summer-heat, it tonifies the righteous Qi more than it resolves summer-heat. Removing Xiang Ru (Elsholtziae Herba), this formula can effectively treat (various Yang syndrome hematemesis). However, this formula should only be used for one or two doses, after which Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) should be substituted to (nourish the Yin water; when water is sufficient, Yang fire will naturally subside).
