See the section on Foot Diseases mentioned earlier. For various formulas in the Flaccidity Syndrome (Wei Zheng) section, please refer to the aforementioned Foot Diseases section.
Any condition where Yin and Yang Qi fail to connect smoothly is termed Jue Syndrome (Jue Zheng). The *Classic of Medicine* (*Huangdi Neijing*) states: The three Yin meridians of the hand run from the abdomen to the hand; the three Yang meridians of the hand run from the hand to the head. The three Yang meridians of the foot run from the head to the foot; the three Yin meridians of the foot run from the foot to the abdomen. Thus, the three Yin and three Yang meridians all connect at the hands and feet. If Yang Qi sinks inward and fails to connect smoothly with Yin Qi, it results in cold extremities (cold reversal of hands and feet). However, there are Yin Jue and Yang Jue. When Yin declines in the lower part, heat arises; when Yang declines in the lower part, cold arises. Therefore, in Yang Jue, deep heat leads to Jue, as extreme Yang triggers Jue. It must not be treated as a Yin syndrome using hot medicines, otherwise, the essence and spirit will be severed, leading to death. One should urgently use Da Chengqi Tang (Major Order the Qi Decoction) or Xiao Chengqi Tang (Minor Order the Qi Decoction), treating according to the severity of the condition. In Yin Jue, initially, the body is cold, the pulse is deep, the four limbs are cold, the legs are curled up, the lips and mouth are cyanotic, or there is spontaneous diarrhea without thirst, and the urine is clear and white; these are its signs. Treatment should employ formulas such as Sini Tang (Frigid Extremities Decoction) or Lizhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction). Shijue (Corpse Jue) refers to Feishi Cu jue (Flying Corpse Sudden Jue). This is a sign of Zhong E (Sudden Evil Invasion), caused by exposure to abnormal qi, resulting in sudden cold extremities, skin covered with gooseflesh, a bluish-black complexion, loss of mental control, delirious speech, clenched teeth, locked jaw, coma, dizziness, or fainting. This is sudden Jue due to guest hostility, flying corpse, or ghost strike. Such conditions often occur when attending funerals, visiting mourning houses, entering temples, or climbing tombs. They should be treated by administering Suhexiang Wan (Styrax Pill). Once the patient regains slight consciousness, treatment should be adjusted according to symptoms. Tan Jue (Phlegm Jue) is caused by cold phlegm confusing and obstructing, presenting with cold extremities. Jiangfu Tang (Ginger and Aconite Decoction) is suitable, using raw Fuzi (Raw Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata) instead of cooked Fuzi. Hui Jue (Roundworm Jue) is governed by stomach cold. The *Classic* states: Roundworms are long parasites. Cold in the stomach causes vomiting of roundworms. Lizhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction) added with five fried Chuanjiao (Fructus Zanthoxyli) and 0.5 fen of Binglang (Areca Seed) is effective, along with swallowing Wumei Wan (Mume Pill). Roundworms subside upon encountering pepper. Qi Jue (Qi Jue) resembles Wind Stroke (Zhong Feng). How to distinguish them? In wind stroke, the body is warm; in Qi Jue, the body is cold. Formulas such as Bawei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill), Shunqi San (Smooth Qi Powder), or Tiaoqi San (Regulate Qi Powder) can be used. Shi Jue (Food Jue) is caused by contracting wind-cold after excessive eating and drinking, combined with anger. Treatment is appropriate via emesis. Numbness of the hands and feet belongs to Qi deficiency. Numbness of the ten fingers of the hands and feet: Zhu Danxi attributed this to damp-phlegm and dead blood in the stomach. However, most cases are due to insufficiency of Middle Qi, which fails to reach the four limbs.
