The *Lun of the Pang Family* states: Regarding the signs that medicinal substances are taking effect, one may first feel the urge to frequently stretch or suffer from headache. Symptoms include headache and eye pain, body convulsions (chi zhi fan) (zi yong fan), or fright, palpitations (qi ji fan) and movement, whole-body stiffness, or a sensation of fullness of qi in the ears resembling the sound of a cart (zi dui fan). The body may feel extremely hot as if burned by fire, or experience dryness akin to needle pricks (zi lao fan, meaning treatment/control), aversion to cold, blurred vision (mo bei fan, appearance of unclear eyes), and mental confusion (gu dui fan, appearance of chaotic mind), without knowing where the illness lies. Alternatively, there may be burning heat in the abdomen as if holding something hot (ding guan fan). In severe cases, the abdomen becomes distended and hard like stone, the area around the mouth turns blue-black, blood appears in both stool and urine, and the pulse is faint or absent. Such illnesses are considered major calamities (gu yao fan), with recovery as the goal.
The *Bing Yuan Lun* (Treatise on Disease Origins) states: Those who take mineral pills (dan shi) often bathe when they feel hot and eat when they feel hungry. If eating is irregular and lacks discipline, it causes mineral heat to stagnate and accumulate (yu rong fan), leading to obstruction and the generation of heat. Therefore, medication must be used to eliminate this condition.
The *Waitai Miyao* (Essential Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold for Emergencies) states: After taking mineral substances, if one feels intense heat, one may take Zi Xue (Purple Snow), Jin Shi Ling (Mineral Stone Ice), Jiang Xue (Crimson Snow), or Bai Xue (White Snow), etc. Use half a large sheng of water, grind one da liang of the substance using a porcelain mortar (cai zi fan), and take it all at once after bathing in fragrant water. Wait for one or two bowel movements; the heat will then subside. Among these emergency remedies, Zi Xue (Purple Snow) is the best.
The *Qianjin Fang* (Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Gold) states: To resolve any drug eruption, regardless of whether it originates from herbs or minerals, upon feeling discomfort, use the following prescription:
Sheng Maidong (Ophiopogon Radix, 8 liang), Congbai (Scallion White, 8 liang), Chi (Fermented Soybean, 3 sheng).
Boil these three ingredients in 7 sheng of water until reduced to 2.7 sheng. Divide into three doses.

Xiang Chi (Fragrant Fermented Soybean, 2 sheng), Congbai (Scallion White, sliced, 1 sheng), Gan Lan (Dried Isatis Root/Leaf, 3 liang), Gancao (Licorice Root, 2 liang).

With myriad manifestations of powder eruption, taking Qianhu Tang (Peucedanum Decoction) leads to improvement upon bowel movement:
Qianhu (Peucedanum Root, 2 liang), Shaoyao (Peony Root, 3 liang), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root, 2 liang), Dazao (Jujube, 20 pieces), Gancao (Licorice Root, 2 liang), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root, 2 liang).
Boil these six items in 8 sheng of water until reduced to 2.5 sheng. Divide into three doses. If there is hardness and fullness in the heart and hypochondrium, add Fuling (Poria, 2 liang); if there is urgent fullness and obstruction in the chest, add Zhizi (Immature Bitter Orange, 1 liang); if there is continuous vomiting and coldness in the chest with loss of appetite, add Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger, 3 liang); if there is deficiency and fatigue with dry mouth, add Maidong (Ophiopogon Radix, 2 liang). If adding medicines, increase the water to 9 sheng. (Note: *Lu Yan Fang* specifies Shaoyao at 2 liang.)
It also states: Jie San San Huang Tang (Resolve Powder Three Yellows Decoction) treats persistent excess heat from powder eruption, characterized by abdominal fullness, dark yellow urine, difficult defecation, rebellious qi filling the chest, dry scorched mouth, and red, smoldering eyes:
Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome, 2 liang), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root, 2 liang), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root, 1 liang), Gancao (Licorice Root, 2 liang), Mangxiao (Mirabilite, 2 liang).
Boil these five items in 5 sheng of water until reduced to 2.5 sheng. Add Mangxiao (Mirabilite) and dissolve it. Divide into three doses.
