Qi Lin (Qi Strangury) refers to a condition where Qi stagnation prevents the normal transformation of fluids, with the pathology originating in the Lung and affecting the Bladder. Its manifestations include fullness in the lower abdomen, Qi obstruction, painful and difficult urination with residual dribbling.
Treatment should primarily focus on clearing Lung Qi. The prescription is as follows:
Chenxiang (Aquilaria Lignum), Shiwei (Pyrrosiae Folium, hairs removed), Huashi (Talcum), Wangbuliuxing (Vaccariae Semen), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) each 5 qian; Dongkuizi (Malvae Semen), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) each 7.5 qian; Jupi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) each 2.5 qian.
Grind the above into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, administered with decoction of Hordeum vulgare (Barley).
Gao Lin (Paste Strangury) is so named because the urine is turbid and resembles fat or paste. It is also known as Rou Lin (Meat Strangury). Its etiology lies in the Kidney Blood's inability to control fatty fluids, causing them to be discharged along with urine. The treatment prescription is as follows:
Cishi (Magnetitum, calcined and quenched in vinegar 37 times), Rongzongus (Cistanches Herba, soaked in wine, sliced, and dried), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Huashi (Talcum) each 1 liang.
Grind the above into fine powder. Mix with honey to make pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 30 pills per dose, administered with warm wine at any time. If there is oppression and stuffiness below the umbilicus, add Chenxiang (Aquilaria Lignum) 1 qian to move stagnant Qi.
The cause of this syndrome is exhaustion of Kidney Qi, which fails to communicate upward to the Heart, moisten the Liver in the middle, and generate Spleen Earth downward. This results in the failure of the essence gate to close, leading to nocturnal emission without dreams. The therapeutic method should involve large doses of herbs to tonify the Kidney, supplemented by small amounts of herbs to benefit the Heart, Liver, and Spleen. The prescription is as follows:
Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) 1 liang; Zaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen), Yiren (Coicis Semen) each 5 qian; Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus) 4 qian; Fuling (Poria), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) each 5 qian; Fushen (Poria cum Radice) 2 qian; Bei Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Baijiezi (Brassicae Semens Mustardae) each 1 qian; Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) each 3 fen.
Decoct in water and take orally. One dose is sufficient to stop symptoms; ten doses will lead to recovery.
Although the external manifestation of this syndrome belongs to deficiency of Kidney Fire, tracing its root cause inevitably points to deficiency of the Heart Monarch. Therefore, it is appropriate to tonify both the Heart and Kidney simultaneously to achieve mutual interaction between Water and Fire. The prescription is as follows:
Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) 8 liang; Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) each 4 liang; Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Fuling (Poria), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Bajitian (Morinda Officinalis Radix), Rongzongus (Cistanches Herba) each 3 liang; Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Bei Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix), Chao Zaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, stir-fried), Baiziren (Platycladi Semen), Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex), Poguozhi (Psoraleae Fructus) each 1 liang; Sharen (Amomi Fructus Rotundus) 5 qian; Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata) one piece; Lurong (Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum) one set; Ziheche (Placenta Humana) one unit.
Crush the above into powder. Mix with honey to form pills. Administer 20-30 pills with soup, twice daily.
