Discussion states: All Qi disorders are attributed to the Lung. When Lung Qi is harmonious, its ascending and descending functions proceed naturally. If injured by Cold pathogenic factors, Lung Qi becomes obstructed and stagnant, failing to diffuse and unblock freely.

If lingering without resolution, extreme deficiency of Lung Qi sets in, with Wind pathogenic factors stagnating. This causes chest and back pain, eventually leading to expectoration of pus and blood.
