论曰天一生水，在脏为肾，天三生木，在脏为肝，肾藏精，肝藏血，人之精血充和，则

【论述】天一生水，在五脏中对应肾脏；天三生木，在五脏中对应肝脏。肾贮藏精气，肝贮藏血液。人的精血充盈调和，则肝肾之气充实。精气上荣于耳目，所以耳目聪明，视力和听力不衰败。如果精血亏虚耗损，导致肝肾两脏虚弱受损，则神水（眼内维持视觉的清澈液体）不清澈，视力模糊乏力，从而导致眼睛昏暗不明。
治疗肝肾气虚，风毒上攻，两眼红痒肿痛、昏涩，迎风流泪，以及有胬肉（翼状胬肉），或者头风引起的内外障翳、青盲（视神经萎缩等导致的失明）、攀睛（翼状胬肉）、翳膜，均予以治疗。填睛育婴丸方：石决明（一枚，洗净刷干净）、阳起石（在饭上蒸五次）、白芷、白茯苓（去掉黑皮）、桂枝（去掉粗皮）、防风（去掉叉枝）、杏仁（去皮尖，双仁者炒制）、陈橘皮（浸泡后刮去白瓤焙干）、栀子花、肉苁蓉（酒浸后刮去皱皮焙干）、生姜（切片焙干）、甘草（炙后锉碎）、浓朴（去掉粗皮，拌生姜炒至烟尽）、磁石毛（在饭上蒸五次）、人参（以上各二两）。青葙子、蕤仁（用水浸泡，各三两）、升麻（锉碎）、熟干地黄（焙干，各八两）、龙脑（一分）、车前子、黄柏（去掉黑皮）、槐子、麦门冬（去掉心焙干）、黄连（去掉须）、乳香（以上各四两）、乌贼鱼骨（去掉硬甲）、黄芩（去掉黑心）、苦参（以上各一两）。以上二十九味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，用炼蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂，每次服用六丸，空腹时用白开水送服，饭后再加服十丸，逐渐增加至二十丸。
治疗肝虚伴有膈热，眼目昏暗，逐渐形成障蔽，或者看见黑花，不能远视。决明丸方：决明子、青葙子、茺蔚子、车前子、地肤子、五味子（炒制）、枸杞子（去掉茎蒂）、细辛（去掉苗叶）、麦门冬（去掉心焙干）、生干地黄（焙干）、赤茯苓（去掉黑皮）、桂枝（去掉粗皮）、泽泻、甜葶苈（在纸上炒至紫色）、防风（去掉叉枝）、川芎（以上各一两）。以上十六味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，用炼蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂，每次服用二十丸，饭后很久，用米汤送服，每日三次。
治疗肝肾久虚，眼目昏暗逐渐生出翳障。空青丸方：空青（研细，用水飞法处理）、真珠末（以上各一分）、犀角屑、防风（去掉叉枝）、羚羊角屑、升麻（锉碎）、防己（以上各半两）、人参、麦门冬（去掉心焙干）、茺蔚子、阳起石（研细）、前胡（去掉芦头，以上各一两）、虎睛（一对）。以上十三味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，用炼蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂，每次服用五丸，加至十丸，煎麦门冬汤送服，温椒汤也可以。
治疗眼视物不明，茫茫昏暗。补肾续断丸方：续断、杜仲（锉碎炒制）、牛膝（切片酒浸焙干）、陈曲（炒熟）、山芋（山药）、巴戟天（去掉心）、菟丝子（酒浸研碾成末）、山茱萸（酒浸）、人参（切片）、肉苁蓉（酒浸切片焙干，以上各一两半）、桑寄生（切片焙干）、熟干地黄（焙干，以上各三两）。以上十二味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，用炼蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂，每次服用二十丸，加至三十丸，用温酒送服，早晚服用。
治疗元脏（先天之本）久虚，明目调气进食。椒红丸方：椒红、附子（炮裂后去皮脐）、巴戟天（去掉心）、补骨脂（炒制）、木香、肉苁蓉（去掉皱皮酒浸切片焙干，以上各一两）、青盐（单独研细一分）、香子（洗净焙干半两）。以上八味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，另取羊腰子一对，去掉筋膜，用湿纸包裹煨烤，半生半熟时切片，细细研磨，与青盐及药末混合均匀，用炼蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂，每次服用二十丸，空腹及中午时用温酒送服。
治疗眼目昏暗，进行补益。猪肾丸方：附子（炮裂后去皮脐）、黄芪（切片酒浸焙干）、牛膝（切片酒浸焙干，以上各一两）、肉苁蓉（切片酒浸焙干）、黄蜡（以上各半两）、蜀椒（去掉目和闭口者，炒出油）、白蒺藜（炒制，以上各三分）。以上七味药，除黄蜡外，其余捣碎过筛成粉末，用猪肾一对，葱白五根，分别细切，用法酒炒至将熟，放入黄蜡使其溶化，捣烂混合药末，制成梧桐子大小的丸剂，每次服用二十丸，空腹食前用盐汤送服。
治疗肾虚眼目昏暗。金髓煎丸方：生地黄（二斤，一斤生晒干燥，一斤放在甑中蒸一顿饭的时间取出晒干燥）、杏仁（半斤，去皮尖炒至黄黑色，捣成末，用纸三层重裹压去油，又换纸直到油尽，使如粉白色）、石斛（去掉根锉碎）、牛膝（切片酒浸焙干）、防风（去掉叉枝）、枳壳（去掉瓤麸炒，以上各四两）。以上六味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，用炼蜜制成梧桐子大小的丸剂，每次服用三十丸，空腹用豆淋酒送服。
治疗肝肾俱虚，补暖水脏（肾），明目。椒红丸方：椒红（四两）、巴戟天（去掉心）、楝实（炒制）、香子（炒制）、附子（炮裂去皮脐，以上各一两）。以上五味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，另外用干山药三两研成末，用酒煮糊混合制成丸剂，如梧桐子大小，每次服用二十丸，食前用盐汤送服。
治疗肝肾气虚上攻，眼目昏暗，远视不明，时常看见黑花，逐渐形成内障。补肾磁石丸方：磁石（烧得通红，用醋淬七次）、肉苁蓉（酒浸切片焙干）、菟丝子（酒浸一夜，慢火焙干）、甘菊花、石决明（以上各一两）。以上五味药捣碎过筛成粉末，用雄雀十五只，去掉毛、嘴、足，保留肠肚，用青盐二两，水三升，同煮至雄雀烂熟，水将尽为度，取出先捣成膏状，与药末混合制成丸剂，如梧桐子大小，每次服用二十丸，用温酒送服，空腹食前服用。
治疗元脏虚冷，眼目黑暗不明。煎椒法：蜀椒（去掉合口和目者四两）、无灰酒（三升）、附子（炮裂去皮脐研成末二两）、沉香（一两研成末）。以上四味药。先将椒用酒熬至二分，加入附子和沉香末，用勺子搅拌均匀成膏状为止，装在瓷盒子里，每次服用半匙，空腹用温酒化开送服。
治疗肾脏虚冷，肝膈浮热上冲，两目生翳黑花。青盐散方：青盐（研细）、苍术（米泔水浸泡三天切片焙干）、木贼（童子小便浸泡三天焙干，以上各一两）。以上三味药，捣碎过筛成散剂，空腹用熟水调下一钱匕，如果看不见东西，不超过十服即可见效。
治疗肝肾虚，风邪攻击眼目黑暗，时常看见虚花。蜀椒丸方：蜀椒（去掉目和闭口者炒出油）、熟干地黄（焙干，以上各一两）、苍术（米泔水浸泡一夜切片焙干五两）。以上三味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，用炼蜜混合制成丸剂，如梧桐子大小，每次服用二十丸，用温酒或盐汤送服。
治疗眼目黑暗，暖水脏。椒沉丸方：椒（去掉目和闭口者炒出油四两）、沉香（一两）。以上二味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，用无灰酒煮面糊制成丸剂，如梧桐子大小，每次服用三十丸，用盐汤送服，空腹食前服用。
治疗虚劳眼暗。彻视散方：蔓荆花（三月采集阴干三两）。以上一味药，捣碎过筛成散剂，每次空腹用井华水调下二钱匕，长期服用可以夜间阅读细小书籍。

治疗肝虚眼目昏暗，以及一切眼病。还睛丸方：恶实（炒制半升）、蜀椒（去掉目及闭口者一两半）、青盐（半两）、酸石榴（二个去皮，以上四味用好酒一升在银石器内慢火煎至酒干取出）、附子（炮裂去皮脐一枚）、木贼（半两）。以上六味药，在木臼中捣碎过筛成粉末，用醋煮面糊，制成梧桐子大小的丸剂，每次服用十五丸至二十丸，空腹食后用盐汤送服。
治疗肝气不足，翳膜昏暗，久不见物者。萝灵丸方：羊子肝（去皮膜薄批作片线串日中晒七叶）、大阴玄精石（研细）、石决明（洗净）、黄连（去掉须，以上各一两）、蕤仁（研细半两）。以上五味药，捣研成粉末。用陈粟米粥混合制成丸剂，如梧桐子大小，临睡前用好茶送服二十丸。
治疗肝肾风虚眼暗。附子丸方：附子（生去皮脐）、干姜（炮制）、蜀椒（捣取红，以上各一两）、硫黄（研细一分）、猪肾（二对去掉脂膜切细研为膏）。以上五味药，全部生用，除猪肾外，捣碎过筛成粉末，以猪肾膏混合均匀，制成梧桐子大小的丸剂，每次服用二十丸，空腹用盐汤送服，逐渐加至三十丸。
治疗肝肾气虚，眼目昏痛不可忍受。酸枣仁丸方：酸枣仁（生用）、菟丝子（酒浸一夜曝干）、葳蕤、槐子（以上各一两）、车前子（一两半）。以上五味药，捣碎过筛成粉末，用羊胆汁混合制成丸剂，如梧桐子大小，每次服用二十丸，饭后温水送服，临睡前再服一次。
治疗肝肾虚目暗，兼治耳聋。补虚汤方：赤芍药（一分）、木香（半两）、黄连（去掉须半分）。以上三味药，粗捣筛，每次服用三钱匕，水一盏，煎至六分，去渣温服。

[Discussion] Heaven generates one with water, corresponding to the Kidney in the Zang organs; Heaven generates three with wood, corresponding to the Liver in the Zang organs. The Kidney stores Essence (Jing), and the Liver stores Blood. When a person's Essence and Blood are abundant and harmonious, the Qi of the Liver and Kidney is solid. Nourishing upwards to the eyes and ears, this results in acute hearing and vision that do not decline. If Essence and Blood are deficient and depleted, causing deficiency and damage to these two Zang organs, the Divine Water (the clear fluid in the eye maintaining vision) becomes turbid, leading to blurred and weak vision, thus causing darkening of the eyes.
Treatment for Liver-Kidney Qi deficiency with Wind-Toxin attacking upwards, presenting with redness, itching, swelling, pain, blurriness, and astringency in both eyes, excessive tearing when facing wind, as well as Pterygium (fleshy growth on the eye), or Head Wind causing internal and external cataracts, Qing Mang (blindness), Pterygium, and Membranous Opacities: All are treated with Tian Jing Yu Ying Wan (Fill-the-Eye Infant-Nourishing Pill).

Formula: Jiaohong (Pericarpium Zanthoxyli Rubrum), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, cracked by frying, skin and umbilicus removed), Bajitian (Morindae Officinalis Radix, heart removed), Buguzhi (Psoraleae Fructus, stir-fried), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Roucongrong (Cynomorii Herba, wrinkled skin removed, wine-soaked, sliced, dried) [each 1 liang], Qingyan (Natrii Chlorum, separately ground, 1 fen), Xiangzi (Amomi Fructus, washed and dried, 0.5 liang).
Preparation: The above 8 ingredients are pounded, sifted into powder. Additionally, take 1 pair of Sheep Kidneys, remove fascia and membranes, wrap in wet paper and bake until half-cooked, slice, grind finely, mix evenly with Qingyan and the herbal powder, add refined honey, and form into pills the size of Sophora seeds. Dosage: Take 20 pills at a time, swallowed with warm wine on an empty stomach and at noon.
Treatment for dim vision, for tonification: Zhushen Wan (Pig Kidney Pill).
Formula: Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, cracked by frying, skin and umbilicus removed), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, sliced, wine-soaked, dried), Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, sliced, wine-soaked, dried) [each 1 liang], Roucongrong (Cynomorii Herba, sliced, wine-soaked, dried), Huangla (Bovini Corneum) [each 0.5 liang], Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, remove eyes and closed-mouth ones, stir-fry until oil comes out), Bailiji (Tribuli Fructus, stir-fried) [each 3 qian].
Preparation: Except for Huangla, the above 7 ingredients are pounded, sifted into powder. Use 1 pair of Pig Kidneys and 5 stalks of Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus), cut finely. Stir-fry with medicinal wine until nearly cooked, add Huangla to melt completely, pound into a paste, mix with herbal powder, and form into pills the size of Sophora seeds. Dosage: Take 20 pills at a time, swallowed with salt water before meals on an empty stomach.
Treatment for Kidney deficiency causing dim vision: Jin Sui Jian Wan (Golden Marrow Decoction Pill).

Treatment for combined Liver-Kidney deficiency, warming and tonifying the Water Viscera (Kidney), and brightening eyes: Jiaohong Wan (Pepper Red Pill).
Formula: Jiaohong (Pericarpium Zanthoxyli Rubrum, 4 liang), Bajitian (Morindae Officinalis Radix, heart removed), Lianshi (Meliae Fructus, stir-fried), Xiangzi (Amomi Fructus, stir-fried), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, cracked by frying, skin and umbilicus removed) [each 1 liang].
Preparation: The above 5 ingredients are pounded, sifted into powder. Separately, use 3 liang of dried Shanyu (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) ground to powder,煮糊 (boiled into paste) with wine, mix with the powder, and form into pills the size of Sophora seeds. Dosage: Take 20 pills at a time, swallowed with salt water before meals.
Treatment for Liver-Kidney Qi deficiency attacking upwards, presenting with dim vision, poor distance vision, frequent seeing of black spots, and gradual development of internal cataracts: Bushen Cishi Wan (Kidney-Nourishing Magnetite Pill).
Formula: Cishi (Magnetitum, fired until red-hot, quenched in vinegar seven times), Roucongrong (Cynomorii Herba, wine-soaked, sliced, dried), Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen, wine-soaked overnight, slow-fire dried), Ganjuhua (Chrysanthemi Flos), Shijueming (Haliotidis Concha) [each 1 liang].
Preparation: The above 5 ingredients are pounded, sifted into powder. Use 15 male sparrows, remove feathers, beak, and feet, keep intestines and stomach. Boil with 2 liang of Qingyan (Natrii Chlorum) and 3 sheng of water until the sparrows are soft and water is almost gone. Remove, pound into a paste first, mix with herbal powder, and form into pills the size of Sophora seeds. Dosage: Take 20 pills at a time, swallowed with warm wine on an empty stomach before meals.
Treatment for Primordial Viscera deficiency-cold, presenting with dark and unclear vision: Jian Jiao Fa (Decoction Method of Pepper).
Formula: Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, remove closed-mouth and eyes, 4 liang), Wuhui Jiu (Wine without ash residue, 3 sheng), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, cracked by frying, skin and umbilicus removed, ground to powder, 2 liang), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum, ground to powder, 1 liang).
Preparation: The above 4 ingredients. First, boil Shujiao in wine until reduced to two-tenths. Add Fuzi and Chenxiang powders, stir evenly with a spoon until it forms a paste. Store in a porcelain container. Dosage: Take half a spoon at a time, dissolve in warm wine on an empty stomach.
Treatment for Kidney deficiency-cold, floating heat in Liver-Diaphragm attacking upwards, presenting with opacities and black spots in both eyes: Qingyan San (Green Salt Powder).
Formula: Qingyan (Natrii Chlorum, ground), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, soaked in rice wash water for three days, sliced, dried), Muzei (Equiseti Herba, soaked in urine of a young boy for three days, dried) [each 1 liang].
Preparation: The above 3 ingredients are pounded, sifted into powder. Dosage: Take 1 qianbi (approx. 1-2 grams) at a time, mixed with boiled water on an empty stomach. If vision does not improve, no more than ten doses are needed.
Treatment for Liver-Kidney deficiency, Wind attacking eyes causing darkness and seeing virtual spots: Shujiao Wan (Sichuan Pepper Pill).
Formula: Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium, remove eyes and closed-mouth ones, stir-fry until oil comes out), Shudigan (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, dried) [each 1 liang], Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, soaked in rice wash water overnight, sliced, dried, 5 liang).
