Treats infants from ten days to fifty days old who suddenly experience coughing, spitting up milk, vomiting and regurgitation, sudden severe coughing, and inability to rest day or night due to breathlessness.
Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig) (ban liang), Gancao (Licorice Root) (er liang ban), Ziwan (Aster Root) (shi ba zhu), Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber) (yi liang shi ba zhu).
The above four herbs are chopped, boiled in two sheng of water until reduced to half a sheng. Soak cotton in the decoction, squeeze drops into the infant's mouth, administering four to five times day and night. Regulate breastfeeding.
Treats infants who suddenly exhibit labored breathing with shoulder lifting, dyspnea, and restlessness, caused by evil wind pathogen invading the Lung.
Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) (si liang), Gancao (Licorice Root) (yi liang), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart) (wu cun), Wuweizi (Schisandra Fruit) (ban jin), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) (each er liang).
The above six herbs are chopped, boiled in five sheng of water until reduced to two sheng. Infants under one hundred days old take one ge; administer according to age and condition, and the disease will be cured.
(Thirty formulas, one moxibustion method)
Treats children with fever, headache, indigestion, abdominal distension, or colic in the lower abdomen, difficulty in urination and defecation, or frequent diarrhea. If the child has no other ailments but suffers from overeating without self-restraint, irregular breastfeeding, or palpitations and alternating chills and fever due to fright, this pill is effective where others fail, and may be repeated.
Infants expelling accumulated heat show signs of "steaming"; reduced appetite, foul breath, and nighttime crying with insomnia indicate internal disharmony of the abdomen. This pill should be used exclusively for such cases, yielding miraculous results.
Qianjin Untransmitted Formula: (Chen Yi et al. verified that in the Preface, any mention of Ziwán refers to the fourteen-herb formula in the Bianzheng chapter. It states that if Ziwán fails to induce evacuation, Chidán should be used as it acts faster for severe conditions. Although Chidan is not listed here, the use of Zhusha (Cinnabar) suggests stronger potency than Ziwán, implying this is likely Chidan.)
Badou (Croton Seed), Ruhe Ren (Prunus Persica Kernel) (each shi ba zhu), Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber) (shi zhu), Gancao (Licorice Root) (wu zhu), Zhusha (Cinnabar), Gansui (Kansui Root) (each er zhu), Muli (Oyster Shell) mixed with wax (each ba zhu).
The above eight herbs: Wash Badou thoroughly with hot water, grind, and press through fresh cloth to remove oil. Independently pound Gancao, Gansui, Muli, and Maidong and sieve them. Grind Ruhe Ren until very fine. Mix with the powders and pound two thousand times. If too dry to form pills, add honey. For infants half a year old, administer two pills the size of Ren seeds; for one to two years old, two pills half the size of Sesame seeds; for three to four years, two Sesame-sized pills; for five to six years, two large Sesame-sized pills; for seven to eight years, two Adzuki bean-sized pills; for nine to ten years, slightly larger than Adzuki beans. Administer at dawn (Jiming hour). If not evacuated by sunrise, drink warm rice gruel to induce evacuation. Pills are expelled in pairs. If evacuation is excessive, drink cold rice gruel to stop it.
Treats children with latent heat from birth, resulting from the nursing mother's coarse and spicy diet leading to insufficient milk quality, causing poor nourishment of the skin and flesh, epigastric fullness, sallow emaciation, and flaccid, twisted limbs. This formula promotes physical robustness.
Shaoyao (White Peony Root), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) (each er liang), Dahuang (Rhubarb Root), Renshen (Ginseng Root) (each yi liang), Jiangzhu (Dried Ginger) (use Zhishi (Aurantium Fructus) if heat signs are present), Gancao (Licorice Root) (each ban liang), Biejia (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum), Fuling (Poria) (each yi liang ban).
The above eight herbs are powdered and formed into honey pills the size of soybeans. Infants under one year take one pill; those over one year take three pills; seven-year-old children take ten pills, twice daily.
