Hua Shi (Talcum, 6 qian) and Sheng Gan Cao (Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian) are ground together into powder. Add to the previously mentioned medicine for administration.
([Wu's Note] This is Liu Yi San (Six-to-One Powder). However, Yi Yuan San also contains Zhu Sha (Cinnabar).)
In obese women, with a deep and slippery pulse at the right Cun position, accompanied by symptoms of nausea, epigastric fullness, and difficult urination, this belongs to Phlegm stagnation. Use Er Chen Tang (Two-Cured Decoction), added with Qing Pi (Aurantii Fructus Pericarpium), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), and Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix), decocted and administered, followed by inducing vomiting to expel both the medicinal juice and phlegm. Subsequently, tonify using Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) and other strongly tonifying herbs.
Generally, for difficult urination during pregnancy: if the gestational period is short, clear heat while protecting the fetus; if the gestational period is long and the constitution is deficient, tonify while lifting Qi. The treatment approaches differ in these two aspects.
Those with weak congenital endowment, or those who are prone to depression and consume rich, heavy foods, often suffer from this condition. The method involves Si Wu Tang (Four-Substance Decoction), Er Chen Tang (Two-Cured Decoction), and Si Jun Zi Tang (Four-Gentlemen Decoction), removing Fu Ling (Poria), decocting and administering, followed by inducing vomiting. Once the upper orifices are unblocked, the lower orifices will naturally flow freely. (This condition is recorded in detail in medical compilations; they should be read together.)
Lu Shi stated that Zhuan Bao (Displacement of the Bladder/Uterus causing urinary retention) is caused by Spleen Qi sinking, blocking the bladder opening, leading to difficult urination, not due to Heat closure. It is suitable to use Er Chen Tang (Two-Cured Decoction), added with Xiong Gui (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), and Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), decocted and administered, followed by inducing vomiting. If still obstructed, administer again and induce vomiting again until urination becomes free. Then use the aforementioned medicine, adding Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), for more than ten doses. If fatigue occurs, Liu Wei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) should be taken three times daily. I have often seen cases where treating this condition with diuretic or laxative medicines resulted in miscarriage and endangered the woman's life; is this not regrettable?
([Wu's Note] Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) can be used temporarily to lift Qi, but should not be taken in large amounts to avoid harm.)
Dan Shi said that Zhuan Bao (Displacement of the Bladder/Uterus causing urinary retention) is caused by deficiency of Spleen and Stomach Qi, leading to the pressure of the fetus on the bladder.
Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) and Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix, each 1.5 qian); Chen Pi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, peeled); Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma); Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix); Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, each 0.4 qian); Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma); Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, each 1 qian); Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 0.8 qian); Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 2 qian); Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens, one slice).
Another prescription: Bai Luo Bo Zi (Brassicae Semipae White Radicis Semen, stir-fried until fragrant), swallowed with plain warm water for immediate relief.
Another method: Drink salt water repeatedly on an empty stomach to induce vomiting, causing Qi to rise and facilitating the passage of Qi below. This is also a treatment method.
