According to the *Ling Shu* (Spiritual Pivot), women suffer from two conditions: Shi Jia (Stone Mass) and Chang Tan (Intestinal Tumor). Secular physicians often fail to recognize them; therefore, they are specifically listed here for clarification.
Shi Jia (Stone Mass) syndrome occurs when cold pathogenic factors enter through the yin aperture after menstruation and lodge in the Bao Men (uterine gate), causing blood coagulation and cessation of menstruation. The abdomen gradually enlarges, resembling pregnancy. In robust women, it may resolve spontaneously after half a year; however, in weak women, it will inevitably develop into edema/swelling syndromes.
Gui Wei, Chuan Xiong, Chi Shao, Rou Gui, Gui Zhi, E Zhu (vinegar-processed), Gu Zhi (salt-water fried), Xiao Hui Xiang, Niu Xi (each 2 qian), Gan Cao (0.3 fen). Use Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger) as a guide herb. Concurrently take Si Zhi Wu Fu Wan.
Chang Tan (Intestinal Tumor) syndrome also occurs when cold pathogenic factors enter the yin aperture during menstruation and lodge in the Large Intestine, causing blood coagulation. Although menstruation continues, the flow is scanty. The abdomen gradually enlarges, resembling pregnancy. It may resolve spontaneously after half a year; however, in weak and deficient women, it will inevitably lead to abdominal distension and fullness.
