Treats heat damaging the Lung and Stomach. Wheezing and coughing due to deficient heat. Pulse is weak and powerless.
Ren Shen (3 qian) Mai Men Dong (2 qian) Wu Wei Zi (1 qian)
Decoct in water. Take warm at any time.
Men Dong Qing Fei Yin (Ophiopogon Decoction for Clearing the Lungs) Treats fire invading the Lung and Stomach. Wheezing, coughing, hemoptysis, and epistaxis.
Sheng Mai San added with Huang Qin, Gan Cao, Zi Wan, Bai Shao, Dang Gui. This combines Sheng Mai San and Bao Yuan Tang to nourish the source of Metal and Water. Zi Wan assists Huang Qin and simultaneously regulates Ying and Wei, deeply grasping the essence of clearing the Lungs. However, Bai Shao is sour and astringent, Dang Gui is acrid and dispersing, and it enters the Blood level rather than Qi level, which is quite inappropriate. It is better to simply use Sheng Mai San and Bao Yuan Tang to clear the Lungs, which is most appropriate. Ancient sages stated that combining Bao Yuan Tang and Sheng Mai San causes Qi power to surge from the feet and knees; Huang Qi solidifies the Stomach, and Wu Wei Zi astringes fluids. These are all specific medicines for the Lower Jiao.
Xuan Ming Men Dong Yin (Xuanming Ophiopogon Decoction) Treats Heart transferring heat to the Lung, transforming into Ge Xiao (Diaphragmatic Thirst).
Sheng Mai San added with Fu Shen, Gan Cao, Sheng Di Huang, Gua Lou Gen, Wei Ge Gen, Zhi Mu, Zhu Ye.
Yi Lao Men Dong Yin (Yi Lao Ophiopogon Decoction) Treats elderly people with fluid deficiency and extreme thirst.
Sheng Mai San added with Fu Shen, Gan Cao, Gou Qi, Sheng Jiang. Both formulas are based on Sheng Mai San, but Yi Lao's version is slightly superior. Xuan Ming's version focuses on boosting Qi, while Yi Lao's version specifically nourishes Blood and Qi, treating the root cause.
Tian Wang Bu Xin Dan (Emperor of Heaven Pill to Tonify the Heart) Treats depletion of Heart and Kidney. Palpitations and restlessness.
Sheng Mai San added with Shu Di Huang, Fu Ling, Fu Shen, Yuan Zhi, Chang Pu, Hei Shen, Dan Shen, Bai Zi Ren, Suan Zao Ren, Tian Men Dong, Bai Bu, Dang Gui, Du Zhong, Jie Geng, Gan Cao, honey-made pills. Coated with Zhu Sha. Take 2-3 qian on an empty stomach with Long Yan and Hong Zao decoction.
Qing Xin Lian Zi Yin (Clear Heart Lotus Seed Decoction, Ju Fang) Treats hyperactive Fire of the Pericardium. Red, scanty, difficult, and painful urination.
Sheng Mai San added with Huang Qin, Di Gu Pi, Che Qian, Fu Ling, Huang Qi, Lian Zi. Here, Sheng Mai San is combined with Huang Qin to clear the Lungs, incorporating the method of Dao Chi San. The intent is that Fire of the Pericardium flares up, burning the Lungs above; Heat damages Qi transformation, failing to generate Water. Thus, Sheng Mai San is used to save the dryness of the Lungs and nourish the Upper Source. Then it is known that the Lungs originally have no Heat; it is all due to receiving excessive Fire, leading to Heat damaging Qi transformation. How can one reuse Huang Qin to attack the Lungs? Why not simply use Sheng Mai San combined with the full formula of Dao Chi San? Would this not clear both source and branches, making the logic clear and expression fluent? Even if not, it is acceptable to remove Mu Tong, still using Fu Ling and Lian Zi to preserve the intention of clearing the Heart. As for Ju Fang, it takes Bao Yuan Tang as the main component, removing Wu Wei Zi and adding Gan Cao, further losing the essence of nourishing the Upper Source of the Lungs.
