(Constructed by Jie'an to replace Ge Gen Tang) Treats concurrent Taiyang and Yangming diseases, presenting with pain in the head, eyes, and eye sockets, dryness of the nose, insomnia, aversion to cold, absence of sweating, and a flooding pulse. (The Taiyang meridian originates from the inner canthus, ascends to the forehead, and intersects at the vertex. The Yangming meridian ascends to the frontal skull and connects with the eyes. Wind-cold pathogens attacking upwards cause headache and orbital pain. Aversion to cold and absence of sweating belong to the Taiyang syndrome; dry nose and insomnia belong to the Yangming syndrome. A flooding pulse indicates impending heat transformation. Jie'an stated: This is pathogenic factor in the Yangming channel. If the disease resides in the Fu organs, there are other treatment methods.)

(The Formulary of the Imperial Medical Bureau) Treats concurrent Shaoyang and Yangming diseases, wind strike, high fever with aversion to wind, headache, body ache, nasal congestion, dry throat, profuse cough with thick and sticky sputum. Also treats constrained Yang qi, sinking Yuan qi, and seasonal epidemics. (Liu Zongnong stated: Regarding wind strike, Zhang Zhongjing discussed it together with Shanghan, distinguishing between Ma Huang Tang and Gui Zhi Tang applications. However, after transmission and transformation, he did not strictly differentiate them. Various schools mixed wind strike with exposure to the four abnormal Qi and treated it concurrently with the stroke section. Wang Haogu independently established a formula for wind strike, placing it first among the 'Four Perversions'. Furthermore, following the Shanghan theory, starting with the Taiyang meridian and annotating the Six Meridians, it can be considered detailed and precise. Nevertheless, although all formulas typically use exterior-releasing methods for wind, the source of infection differs. If one has deficient exterior and contracts wind, using only exterior-releasing drugs will inevitably lead to excessive sweating and loss of fluids/righteous qi. If wind is contracted with internal phlegm-heat, internal and external treatments should be combined; one cannot focus solely on releasing the exterior. One might ask: Is this 'deficient exterior' the same as the deficiency mentioned in Shanghan? I say: No. In Shanghan, regarding Taiyang wind strike, deficiency and excess are distinguished by the presence or absence of sweat. Excess adds Ma Huang, deficiency adds Ge Gen; both release the exterior. Here, 'deficient exterior' implies consolidating the Wei qi while dispersing wind.)
