Duan Shi (Calcined Alumen) in any quantity, on the noon of the Dragon Boat Festival, collect hundred herbs and crush them to extract juice, filter it, mix with Duan Shi to make into cakes, adding Chive Juice (Jiucai Zhi, 韭菜汁) is particularly good, dry in shade. When encountering injuries, sprinkle the powder directly onto the wound. If intestines are ruptured and protrude, suture and cover with Mulberry Root Bark (Sangbaipi, 桑白皮), and bind with cloth. Wu Neihan's father, Wu Shou, was guarding Nanxiong Prefecture when a person suffered from knife wounds with protruding intestines; this medicine saved two lives. Another prescription uses only Chive Juice mixed with Duan Shi, also prepared on the Dragon Boat Festival.
Jiangzhen Xiang Powder (Powder of Aquilaria Sinensis), Wubeizi Powder (Powder of Chinese Gall), Tong Mo (Copper Dust, scraped from mirror surfaces and ground fine in a mortar). Mix evenly and apply to the affected area. Ou Zhushang, who suffered a shattered head from a hand force injury in Anfeng, was cured using this prescription.
Bu Ke Ba Fang (The Unremovable Arrow Formula). Take half a Croton Seed (Badou, 巴豆), grind together with one Dung Beetle (Qianglang, 蜣螂), and apply to the injured site. After a short while, pain subsides, and the sore becomes slightly itchy; endure it. If itching becomes unbearable, shake the arrowhead, and it will come out immediately. Xiahou Yun stated that he obtained this formula when first appointed as Adjutant of Runzhou. After the arrowhead is removed, apply Shengji Gao (Regenerate Flesh Ointment). It also treats malignant sores. When Xiahou Yun arrived in Hongzhou, the wife of an innkeeper suffered from a back sore and groaned in pain; she was cured using this method. The Yang Family Prescription also records that after removing the arrow, wash with Coptis Chinensis (Huanglian, 黄连) and Cyathula Officinalis (Guanzhong, 贯众) decoction, then apply Niu Dan Zhi Fenghua Duan Shi (Ox Gall-treated Calcined Alumen).
Miao Bu Ke Yan (Inexpressibly Wonderful). Dry Mulberry Leaves (Sangye, 桑叶) in the shade, grind into fine powder, and apply dry. If not available, iron the dry powder before application.
Qianjin Bu Huan Fang (The Priceless Formula). In the twelfth lunar month, take one Ox Gall (Niudan, 牛胆), fill it with Fenghua Duan Shi (Wind-dried Calcined Alumen), hang it in a ventilated place until dry, then use to paste on the wound, allowing immersion in water.
Tao Hong San (Peach Red Powder) for treating metal wounds and all kinds of malignant sores. Top-grade Guo Dan (Guodan, 虢丹), Ruan Shigao (Soft Gypsum Fibrosum, 软石膏, calcined until red-hot). Grind finely and mix until it resembles the color of peach blossoms; sprinkling on the wound is excellent!
Zi Xue (Purple Snow) for treating scalds and burns where pain is unbearable, or ulcers becoming malignant sores. Peel Pine Tree Bark (Songshupi, 松树皮), dry in shade, grind into fine powder, add a small amount of Calomel (Qingfen, 轻粉), mix with raw sesame oil to a thin consistency for application. If it does not stay, bind with gauze or silk; scabs will form quickly, with miraculous effects. However, it is advisable to prepare it in advance for emergencies. Those peeled off naturally and thin are particularly good.
