The Liver corresponds to the color green (Qing, 青色) among the five colors and to anger (Nu, 怒) among the five emotions. Therefore, when Liver Qi (Liver Qi, 肝气) rebels upward, if heat pathogen (Re Xie, 热邪) invades the Liver and lingers without being eliminated, it results in a greenish complexion and irritability. This is due to the rebellion of Qi within the Zang organ itself.
