消梨饮 治喉痹。
单用消梨汁频频饮之，或将梨削浸凉水中，频频饮之，尤妙。此物大解热毒。或南方少
梨之处，但择好萝卜杵汁，加玄明粉徐饮，大效。
《医林》透天一块冰 治一切风热喉痹，口舌生疮头目不清，痰涎壅盛。

贝母 紫菀茸 北五味（各一两） 石菖蒲 款冬蕊（各半两）
上将后七味为咀，用水五升，煎半去滓，入杏、蜜、姜、糖四味合和，微火煎取一升半
。每服三合，两日夜服之。
《三因》蜜附子 治隔阳咽闭，吞吐不通，及脏寒闭塞等证。
用大附子一枚，去皮脐，切作大片，用蜜涂炙令黄，含口中，咽津；甘味尽，再涂蜜炙
用，或易之。或用炮附子，以唾津调涂脚心。一方用肉桂含之。
牛黄益金散 治虚火炎上伤肺，咽喉生疮破烂。

，以此丸三粒，用醋磨化灌之，其痰立出，尤妙。
《三因》玉钥匙 治风热喉痹及缠喉风。

《济生》二圣散 治缠喉风，急喉痹。

为细末，每用少许吹喉中，痰出即愈。
马牙硝散 治喉痈，及伤寒热后咽痛，闭塞不通，毒瓦斯上冲。
马牙硝细研。每服一钱，绵裹含咽津，以通为度。
烧盐散 治喉中悬壅垂长，咽中妨碍。

上和匀研细，以箸头蘸点即消。
《宝鉴》开关散 治喉风气息不通。

上二味，和匀丸，芡实大。每服一丸，噙化咽下，内服荆防败毒散。
通气散 方在外科。治时毒肿甚，咽喉不利，取嚏以泄其毒。

Ju Fang Ganjie Tang (Ganoderma and Platycodon Decoction from the Standard Formulary): Treats sore throat and swelling caused by wind-heat obstructing upwards. Qian Yi's formula uses Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (Gancao, 甘草) two qian, and Radix Platycodonis (Jiegeng, 桔梗) one qian.

Add two zhong of water, decoct to obtain eight fen, take after meals. Adding Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis (Jingjie Sui, 荆芥穗) two or three qian to this formula, it is named Jingjie Tang in San Yin Fang, which is even more effective.
Ba Cui Ganjie Tang: Treats heat-swelling Hou Bi (Sore Throat).

Add two zhong of water, add Folium Bambusae (Zhuye, 竹叶), decoct and take. Another version includes Fructus Gardeniae Jasminoidis (Shanzhizi, 山栀子).
Jiawei Ganjie Tang: This formula is recorded in the chapter on smallpox and rashes. Treats sore throat and swelling.
Yil Lin Hezi Ganjie Tang: Treats aphonia due to excessive fire.

Xiao Li Yin: Treats Hou Bi (Sore Throat).
Drink fresh juice of Pyrus bretschneideri (Xiaoli, 消梨) frequently, or peel the pear, soak it in cold water, and drink the water frequently, which is particularly wonderful. This substance greatly resolves heat-toxin. In southern regions where pears are scarce, select good radishes, crush them for juice, add Natrii Sulfas Depuratus (Xuanmingfen, 玄明粉), and drink slowly; this is highly effective.
Yil Lin Tou Tian Yi Kuai Bing: Treats all types of wind-heat Hou Bi (Sore Throat), sores in mouth and tongue, unclear head and eyes, and abundant phlegm-saliva.

Dianhua Wan: Treats Chanhou Feng (Entangling Throat Wind) causing inability to speak.

Equal parts, grind into fine powder, make pills with refined honey, size like a bullet. Take one pill per dose, hold in mouth to dissolve before sleep.
Yil Lin Xingren Jian: Treats sudden severe cough with aphonia.

First, cut the latter seven herbs, add five sheng of water, decoct until half remains, remove dregs. Add apricot kernel, honey, ginger juice, and sugar, mix well, decoct over low heat to obtain one and a half sheng. Take three he per dose, administer day and night.
San Yin Mi Fuzi: Treats Ge Yang Yan Bi (Yang-separation Throat Closure), difficulty in swallowing and spitting, and organ-cold blockage syndromes.
Use one large Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata (Fuzi, 附子), remove skin and navel, slice thickly. Coat with honey, roast until yellow, hold in mouth, swallow saliva. When sweetness is gone, re-coat with honey and roast, or replace. Alternatively, use processed Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata (Pao Fuzi, 炮附子), mix with saliva, apply to sole of foot. Another version uses Cortex Cinnamomi Cassiae (Rougui, 肉桂) to hold in mouth.
Niuhuang Yijin San: Treats deficiency-fire flaming upward damaging Lung, sores and ulceration in throat.
Cortex Phellodendri Amurensis (Huangbai, 黄柏) (grind to powder, honey-fry several times until warm, separately grind to extremely fine powder) Borax (Baibingsha, 白硼砂) Bombyx Batryticatus (Baijiangcan, 白僵蚕) (cleaned, each 1.5 qian) Calculus Bovis (Niuhuang, 牛黄) (3 fen)
Mix with honey to form a thin paste, apply to affected area; or make pills size like longan, hold in mouth to dissolve and swallow. Note: Adding 0.5 fen of Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, 冰片) to this formula is essential for best effect.
Mifang Sanhuang Wan: Excellent for treating Hou Bi (Sore Throat).

Grind to powder, mix with Pig Gallbladder Juice (Zhudan, 猪胆), steam in a steamer three times. Finally add Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, 冰片), Moschus (Shexiang, 麝香), and Borax (Bingsha, 硼砂), make pills size like soybean. Hold one pill in mouth, swallow with saliva, keep in mouth day and night without removing for best effect.
Renshen Pingbu Tang: Treats hoarseness and aphonia due to Kidney deficiency.

Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (Zhigancao, 炙甘草) (each 2.5 qian) Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii (Shichangpu, 石菖蒲) (1.5 qian)
Cut herbs. Take 5 qian per dose, with 5 slices of Zingiberis Recens (Shengjiang, 生姜) and 2 Jujubae Fructus (Zao, 枣), decoct to obtain seven fen, swallow over 100 Shan Yao Wan (Chinese Yam Pills, 山药丸). After fifth watch (early morning) when Kidney Qi opens, avoid coughing, spitting, or speaking. Then take the above medicine again, efficacy will surpass normal.
Baihe Wan: Treats aphonia and mutism due to Lung dryness.
Bulbus Lilii (Baihe, 百合) Fermented Tea Brick (Baiyaojian, 百药煎) Semen Armeniacae Amarum (Xingren, 杏仁) (skin and tip removed) Fructus Chebulae Retardatae (Hezi, 诃子) Semen Coicis Lacryma-Jobi (Yiyiren, 薏苡仁) (equal parts)
Grind to powder, mix with Egg White (Jiziqing, 鸡子清), make pills size like bullet. Hold in mouth to dissolve before sleep. Making pills with honey is also excellent.
Mifang Zhuyi Maidong Tang: Treats all types of consumptive disease with phlegm-cough, hoarseness and aphonia, difficult cases, taking this yields miraculous effect.
Zhuyi (Inner membrane of Dendrocalamus latiflorus bamboo, fresh, 1 qian) Zhuru (One ball size. i.e., green skin of Dendrocalamus latiflorus, scraped) Zhuli (Juice from Dendrocalamus latiflorus) Radix Ophiopogonis Japonici (Maidong, 麦冬) (3 qian) Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata (Gancao, 甘草) Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (Juhong, 橘红) (each 0.5 qian) Poria (Baifuling, 白茯苓) Radix Platycodonis (Jiegeng, 桔梗) (each 1 qian) Semen Armeniacae Amarum (Xingren, 杏仁) (seven grains, skin and tip removed, crushed)
Cut herbs. Add one and a half zhong of water, add 14 leaves of Folium Bambusae (Zhuye, 竹叶), decoct to obtain seven fen, add one cup of Zhuli (Bamboo Juice, 竹沥), mix well and take.
Shegan Wan: Treats swelling and pain of uvula, throat discomfort.

Yil Lin Tiedi Wan: Miraculous for treating aphonia and mutism caused by excessive fire from singing/chanting.

Grind to powder, make pills with vinegar paste, size like mung bean. Take seven pills with hot clear tea, vomiting out stubborn phlegm leads to recovery. If not vomited, take again; highly effective. If jaw is locked, pry open with object and administer; once swallowed, survival is certain. For children with convulsive fever and phlegm obstruction, give two or three pills according to size. Another method: grind three pills with vinegar, administer; phlegm comes out immediately, especially wonderful.
San Yin Yu Yaoshi: Treats wind-heat Hou Bi (Sore Throat) and Chanhou Feng (Entangling Throat Wind).
Borax (Yueshi, 月石) (5 qian) Natrii Nitras (Yaxiao, 牙硝) (1.5 liang) Bombyx Batryticatus (Baijiangcan, 白僵蚕) (1 qian) Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, 冰片) (one zi)
Grind to fine powder. Use 0.5 qian per application, blow into throat with bamboo tube, immediate cure. Adding 2 qian of Realgar (Xionghuang, 雄黄) to this formula makes it Mimi Yaoshi (Secret Key).
Jisheng Ersheng San: Treats Chanhou Feng (Entangling Throat Wind) and acute Hou Bi (Sore Throat).
Chalkite (Danfan, 胆矾) (2.5 qian) Bombyx Batryticatus (Baijiangcan, 白僵蚕) (stir-fried, 0.5 liang)
Grind to fine powder. Blow a small amount into throat.
Mifang Duoming San: Treats acute Chanhou Feng (Entangling Throat Wind).
Alumen Exsiccatum (Baifan, 白矾) Bombyx Batryticatus (Jiangcan, 僵蚕) (stir-fried) Borax (Yueshi, 月石) Fructus Gleditsiae Sinensis (Zaojiao, 皂角) (roasted until smoke ceases, equal parts)
Grind to fine powder. Blow a small amount into throat per dose; once phlegm exits, cure follows.
Mayaxiao San: Treats throat abscess, and post-febrile sore throat from Cold Damage syndrome with blockage and toxic qi rushing upward.
Finely grind Mayaxiao (Marble Gypsum, 马牙硝). Take 1 qian per dose, wrap in cotton, hold in mouth to swallow saliva, stop when patent.
Shaoyan San: Treats elongated uvula in throat causing obstruction.
Roasted Salt (Shaoyan, 烧盐) Calcined Alum (Kufan, 枯矾) (equal parts)
Mix evenly, grind fine. Dip chopstick tip into powder, applies instantly.
Baojian Kaiguan San: Treats throat wind with blocked breathing.
Bombyx Batryticatus (Baijiangcan, 白僵蚕) (stir-fried, remove silk and mouthparts) Calcined White Alum (Kubaifan, 枯白矾) (equal parts)
Grind to fine powder. Take 2-3 qian per dose, mix with Ginger and Honey Water, sip slowly.
Qibao San: Treats Hou Bi (Throat Closure) and Chanhou Feng (Entangling Throat Wind).

Grind to fine powder. Use one zi per application, blow into throat, immediate cure.
Po Guan Dan: Treats tonsillar swelling, throat closure, Chanhou Feng (Entangling Throat Wind) and other syndromes.
Borax Powder (Pengsha Mo, 硼砂末) (5 qian) Frost Plum Flesh (Shuangmei Rou, 霜梅肉) (1 liang, mashed)
Mix these two ingredients evenly, make pills size like Euryale Seed (Qianshi, 芡实). Take one pill per dose, hold in mouth to dissolve and swallow. Internally take Jingfang Baidu San (Jingfang Baidu Powder, 荆防败毒散).
