**Yin Gao (Silver Paste)** Non-toxic. Prepared by refining. It treats wind-heat, heart deficiency with palpitations and epilepsy, mental confusion, manic wandering, heat above the diaphragm, wind-heat in the head and face rushing to the heart. It calms the spirit and stabilizes will both above and below, settles the heart, brightens the eyes, promotes urination, and treats heart wind with forgetfulness (Recorded by Famous Physicians). [Origin] (*Tu Jing* states) This paste is composed of quicksilver from Pingtu in Fuling, white tin, and silver leaf. After coagulation, it is hard like silver and can be used to fill missing teeth. ○ According to *Ben Jing*, the method of compounding is not detailed. Inquiries among alchemists reveal the method: first, take 100 parts of mercury and 45 parts of silver leaf, pound them into a mud-like consistency; then, take 900 parts of white tin, place them in an iron pot, and melt them over fire until liquid; upon removal from the furnace, walk for about twenty paces, then throw the mud mixture into the tin liquid and stir evenly to form the paste. The refining process uses the time it takes a person to walk twenty paces as the standard, fearing that if the tin is too hot, the mercury will volatilize and escape, and if too cold, the tin will solidify and fail to combine. Trials at the time confirmed this statement. [Texture] Resembles silver. [Color] White.
