The ear is the orifice responsible for hearing. The name of the ear canal is "Bi" (Obstruction), and the name of the auricle is "Guo" (Wall). Whenever the ear is severed, fallen due to trauma, or dislocated such that the upper part detaches while the lower remains adhered, or vice versa, internal administration of sealing medicine should be used, and external application of Disinfecting and Pain-Relieving Powder (Xiaodu Dingtong San) should be applied. Observe the direction of dislocation behind the ear, use a goose feather tube for horizontal clamping fixation, and then secure it with a bamboo clamp in a vertical horizontal binding manner. During binding, ensure both ears are facing each other, bind gently, or employ the suturing method (Zhui Fa).

The Yuliang bone is the ear gate bone. Above this location is the Qujia (bent jaw) bone, and below is the Jiache (cheek car) bone; these two bones form a pincer-like occlusion. Internally, the ear gate connects upward to the brain marrow and is also related to mental clarity. If injured by pressure or blow, affecting the bone and flesh, resulting in swelling, pain, and bleeding, administer Zhenggu Zijin Dan (Orthopedic Purple Gold Pill) and wash the affected area with Baxian Xiaoyao Tang (Eight Immortals Free and Easy Wanderer Decoction); after washing, apply Hunyuan Gao (Primordial Ointment), and sit or lie in a place avoiding cold. If the injury is severe, involving the brain marrow internally and damaging mental clarity, there will inevitably be coma, unconsciousness, and inability to eat. If the patient is also constitutionally deficient in Qi and Blood, it becomes an incurable condition.
Baxian Xiaoyao Tang: Specifically used for washing injuries from falls and blows causing swelling, hardness, and pain, as well as all conditions of cold tremors, wind-dampness, and soreness/aching of the sinews, bones, flesh, blood, and limbs.
Ingredients: Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Jingjie (Schizonepeta Spike), Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome), Gancao (Licorice Root) (each 1 qian), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root, washed with wine), Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark) (each 2 qian), Maoshan Cangzhu (Atractylodes Lancea Rhizome from Maoshan), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), Chuanjiao (Zanthoxylum Pericarpium) (each 3 qian), Kushen (Sophora Root) (5 qian).
Mix all ingredients together, place in a white cloth bag, tie the mouth tightly, boil in water, fumigate and wash the affected area.
The Liangdiao bones are named Qujia bones, which refer to the occlusal part of the upper jaw, curved like a ring to accommodate the hook at the tail of the Xiaye (jaw car) bone. After traumatic injury, the ear swells, the cheek becomes hard, the jaw is tight, and chewing does not align properly. Internal administration of Zhenggu Zijin Dan (Orthopedic Purple Gold Pill) and external application of Wanling Gao (Myriad Spirits Ointment) are appropriate. Sit or lie in a place avoiding cold.

The Jiache bone is the mandible, commonly known as Yadiao. It bears all teeth and enables mastication, exhibiting movement, hence the name Jiache. Its tail is hook-shaped, controlling upwards into the ring of the Qujia bone. Trauma may cause dislocation, or wind-damp invasion may cause the hook and ring to dislocate. Unilateral dislocation is called "Cuo" (Misalignment), and bilateral dislocation is called "Luo" (Fall/Dislocation). For unilateral dislocation, use manual reduction: remove the non-dislocated side's obstruction, hold the chin with both hands, pull slightly outward, then push inward, so both sides re-enter the upper ring. Then wrap a cloth from the chin to the top of the head for stabilization. Internal administration of Zhenggu Zijin Dan (Orthopedic Purple Gold Pill) and external application of Wanling Gao (Myriad Spirits Ointment) are suitable. Once eating is possible, remove the cloth, using only a cloth sling under the chin tied to the top of the head; recovery takes two to three days. For bilateral dislocation, the treatment is the same as above. If dislocation occurs due to yawning, it is merely subluxation, which is harmless. Dislocation is commonly known as "hanging jaw."
Yawning is commonly known as "opening the mouth wide."
