Weisheng Tang (Health Preservation Decoction): Treats leukorrhea that does not stop, with a faint pulse and abdominal pain. (The following formulas all take the support of healthy qi as the root; this one also belongs to the method of building the middle jiao.)
Herbs: Huangqi (Astragali Radix, 3 liang), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, stir-fried, each 2 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into coarse powder. Take 0.5 liang per dose, decoct with water, and take on an empty stomach. Another version adds taking thirty pills of Kulian Wan (Toosendan Fructus Pills) with the medicine (because of abdominal pain, Kulian Wan is used concurrently); for those with deficiency, add Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 1 liang).
Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction): Treats excessive labor and irregular diet damaging the spleen and stomach, leading to sinking of yang qi, resulting in white leukorrhea that persists for a long time. (Reading Mr. Dongyuan's books reveals the intent of the prescription; reading Mr. Lizhai's books shows how to skillfully apply Mr. Dongyuan's formulas.)
Herbs: Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, each 1 qian), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, each 7 fen), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, each 3 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Combine the above herbs as one dose, decoct with water, and take.
Liu Junzi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction): Treats weak stomach qi with phlegm-dampness, reduced appetite, disharmony of middle qi, and frequent leukorrhea.
Herbs: Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Baifuling (Poria, dried mycelium), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, pith removed), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, soaked in boiling water seven times, each 1 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Cut the above herbs as one dose. Add three slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), decoct with water, and take. (Buzhong Yiqi Tang contains Shengma and Chaihu to raise sinking qi; this formula contains Fuling and Banxia to dry phlegm in the middle jiao.)
Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction): Treats excessive worry damaging the heart and spleen, leading to forgetfulness, palpitations, fright, insomnia, lethargy, aversion to food, and persistent white leukorrhea. (This formula nourishes heart blood to benefit the spleen, which is "nourishing the mother"; it regulates liver qi to subdue the spleen, which is "removing the thief". When the mother is nourished and the thief removed, spleen qi becomes robust, hence the name "Restore the Spleen". An ancient master said, if tonifying the spleen fails, one should first tonify the heart; this formula is close to that principle.)
Source: See Blood Flooding Section (Labor Injury Clause).
Jiawei Bazhen Tang (Modified Eight-Treasure Decoction): Treats women with dual deficiency of qi and blood, presenting with red and white leukorrhea.
Herbs: Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, wine-fried), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, stir-fried), Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex, wine-fried), Baifuling (Poria, dried mycelium), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma, stir-fried, each 1 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, 5 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Add one Wumei (Mume Fructus), three slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and one Zao (Jujubae Fructus) to the above. Decoct with water and take warm before meals. For obese individuals, add Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma); for thin individuals, add Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex); for fullness and distension, remove Renshen (Ginseng Radix) and add Sharen (Amomi Fructus); for abdominal pain, remove Renshen (Ginseng Radix) and add Xiaohuixiang (Foeniculi Fructus), Yuanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma); in winter, add Weiganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparatum); for prolonged illness with sinking yuan qi, add Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) to lift. (This formula acts as a general commander; Shanyao, Duzhong, and Wumei supplement the Dai Mai (Girdle Vessel); the modification rules are logical and worthy of emulation.)
Danggui Zelan Wan (Danggui and Lycopodium Pill): Treats irregular menstruation in women, red and white leukorrhea, and infertility over a long period. (Balanced and reasonable, it can be regarded as a sacred medicine for regulating menstruation.)
Herbs: Xiangfuzi (Cyperi Rhizoma, select large ones, pound to remove hairs, 1 jin; divide into four parts: soak 4 liang in child's urine, 4 liang in wine, 4 liang in vinegar, 4 liang in rice wash water; soak overnight each, then take out and dry), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, wine-soaked), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, wine-washed), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, each 2 liang), Aye (Asini Corii Colla), Zelan Ye (Herba Lycopus Lucidi), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, each 1.5 liang), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder, make pills with vinegar paste, size like red beans. Take sixty pills per dose on an empty stomach with plain water or wine.
Zhidai Wan (Stop Leukorrhea Pill): Tonifies qi and regulates blood, strengthens waist and benefits kidneys, neither too warming nor too drying, suitable for qi-deficiency leukorrhea; it is a central method of tonification and consolidation.
Herbs: Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, wine-washed), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex, ginger juice and wine-fried to remove silk fibers), Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Poguzhi (Kopuzhi/Burkholdia Seed, wine-fried), Muli (Ostreae Concha, fire-calcined), Chun Gen Pi (Ailanthi Cortex, wine-fried), Xuduan (Drynariae Rhizoma, each equal part), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis, half dose).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder, make pills with refined honey, size like paulownia seeds. Take fifty pills per dose on an empty stomach with rice soup. For abdominal pain, add Yuanhusuo (Corydalis Rhizoma) and Xiaohuixiang (Foeniculi Fructus); for obese individuals, add Jiangzhi Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma prepared with ginger); for thin individuals, add Jiuchao Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex wine-fried); in winter, add a little Pao Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparatum); in summer, add Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex). (The modifications are also correct.)
Yan Shi Danggui Jian (Mr. Yan's Danggui Decoction): Treats red and white leukorrhea, internal abdominal pain, loss of appetite, and gradual emaciation.
Herbs: Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, wine-soaked), Chishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra, stir-fried), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, stir-fried), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, wine-steamed and fried), Ejiao (Asini Corii Colla, fried), Xuduan (Drynariae Rhizoma, wine-soaked), Muli (Ostreae Concha, fire-calcined, each 1 liang), Diyu (Sanguisorbae Radix, 0.5 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder, make pills with vinegar paste, size like paulownia seeds. Take fifty pills per dose on an empty stomach with rice drink. (One must consider why Chuanxiong is omitted from the Four Substances Decoction, what treats the abdominal pain, why appetite is not addressed, and why the spleen and stomach are not regulated. Is the prescriber speaking arbitrarily? One must know that medication should seek the pathogenesis; this is the highest treatment.)
Rongrong Tusi Wan (Cistanche and Dodder Pill): Treats red and white leukorrhea. This medicine is neither hot nor cold, achieving balance, assisting yin and promoting conception.
Herbs: Roucongrong (Cistanchenis Herba, wine-soaked), Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen, wine-steamed), Fupenzi (Rubiae Fructus), Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus, each 1.2 qian), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, wine-washed), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, stir-fried), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma, each 1 liang), Muli (Ostreae Concha, fire-calcined), Wuzhegu (Sepiae Endochroma, each 8 qian), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, each 6 qian), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 5 qian), Aye (Asini Corii Colla, 3 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder, make pills with refined honey, size like paulownia seeds. Take thirty to forty pills per dose with salted water, morning and evening. (Roucongrong, Tusizi, Fupenzi, Shechuangzi, Wuweizi, and Aye are medicines that warm and tonify the lower origin; Muli and Wuzhegu dry dampness and treat leukorrhea; Fangfeng raises liver qi to overcome dampness; Huangqin clears internal heat to drain dampness; Danggui, Baishaoyao, and Chuanxiong regulate blood vessels to nourish. This is suitable only for those with lower deficiency. One must know that ancient prescriptions have unique insights; otherwise, why would a man's medicine tonify women?)
Bugong Wan (Uterus-Tonifying Pill): Treats various deficiencies in women, long-term inability to conceive, bone-steaming fever, emaciation, metrorrhagia, and leukorrhea.
Herbs: Lu Jiaoshuang (Cornu Cervi Degelatinatum), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma), Xiang Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Baifuling (Poria, dried mycelium), Baiwei (Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma), Muli (Ostreae Concha, fire-calcined), Wuzhe Yu Gu (Sepiae Endochroma, each equal part).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder, make pills with flour paste, size like paulownia seeds. Take fifty pills per dose on an empty stomach with rice drink. (This formula uses Lu Jiaoshuang and Baishaoyao to tonify blood; Shanyao, Baizhu, and Fuling to tonify qi; Baizhi and Baiwei to treat metrorrhagia and dripping; Muli and Wuzhe to dry dampness and treat leukorrhea. This is another perspective. However, it omits Chuanxiong, Danggui, and Dihuang to avoid the moistening nature of blood-tonifying herbs. Such variations show the need to adapt to circumstances.)
Danxi Formula: Treats leukorrhea due to true yin deficiency.
Herbs: Guiban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, roasted), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus, each 2 liang), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried, 1 liang), Xiangfuzi (Cyperi Rhizoma), Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus), Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix), Chu Pi (Ailanthi Cortex), Beimu (Fritillariae Thunbergii Bulbus, each 0.5 liang), Baishaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, 7.5 qian), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, stir-fried, 2.5 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Grind into fine powder, make pills with wine paste, size like paulownia seeds. Take fifty pills per dose on an empty stomach with rice drink. (Danji treats leukorrhea by focusing on heat generating dampness. His intent is that the kidney governs closure, and the lower jiao is governed by the liver and kidney; however, dampness arises from the middle jiao, hence his formula design. One should consult Materia Medica and think deeply; flexibility is infinite, cleansing dust for those who rigidly stick to formulas.)
Qianjin Formula: Treats leukorrhea with a rapid pulse, indicating yin deficiency with heat.
Herbs: Gouqi Gen (Lycii Radix Cortex, 1 jin), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, 5 liang; another version says 5 jin).
Preparation and Administration: Take the above two ingredients, decoct with ten dou of water until five sheng remain, divide into three doses.
The above two formulas tonify kidney water and are suitable for true yin deficiency.
Buzhen Gujing Tang (Tonify Truth and Secure Menses Decoction): A woman had leukorrhea dripping for a long time without effect from various medicines. Pulse diagnosis showed the chi position of the pericardium channel was extremely faint, and her leukorrhea flowed continuously. The *Mai Jue* (Pulse Classic) states: "Metrorrhagia lasting long becomes leukorrhea; prolonged dripping dries the bone water." This means starting with metrorrhagia that does not stop, long-term bleeding leads to blood deficiency, followed by loss of yang, so white slippery substances flow continuously. This indicates the sea of blood in the channel is nearly exhausted, fluids are lost, dryness prevents nourishment of sinews and bones. Therefore, channel-specific menses-regulating herbs are used as guiding agents; large acrid-sweet greasy medicines are used to moisten dryness and replenish fluids; large acrid-hot medicines are used to tonify yang channels and generate blood vessels; bitter-cold medicines are used to drain lung heat and rescue upper jiao heat; if qi is damaged, Renshen (Ginseng Radix) tonifies it; slightly bitter-warm medicines assist to augment yuan qi. It is named Buzhen Gujing Tang.
Herbs: Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma, each 1 qian), Sheng Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, cut separately), Yuliren (Pruni Semen, peeled and crushed), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, each 1 qian), Ju Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, pith not removed, 5 fen), Bai Kui Hua (White Sunflower Head, sixteen heads, calyx removed).
Preparation and Administration: Except for Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), decoct three large bowls of water until one bowl and seven tenths remain, then add Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) and decoct together until one bowl remains, strain, and take hot on an empty stomach. Wait a while, then eat breakfast to settle the medicine. (Whenever Dongyuan creates a formula, he traces the pulse, syndrome, and herb origins, then contemplates carefully, citing previous words as evidence, thus treating diseases effectively. Today people cannot do this, so no wonder diseases do not heal! This formula uses Renshen and Ganjiang to tonify yang, Yuliren and Kuihua to moisten dryness; Chaihu lifts clear qi downward; Chenpi harmonizes stomach qi; Sheng Huangqin added later boils coolly without stagnation. Only deep thinkers can prescribe this. Named "Tonify Truth," it focuses on true qi! The administration method is also excellent and must be known.)
Zhuyang Tang (Assist Yang Decoction): Treats leukorrhea, pain in the vaginal opening radiating to the heart with urgent pain, yellow skin with laxity, heavy body like a mountain, and cold sensation in the vagina. (Also known as Shengyang Zaoshi Tang / Raise Yang and Dry Dampness Decoction.)
Herbs: Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, 1.2 qian), Liangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma, 2 qian), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Yuliren (Pruni Semen), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, each 1 qian), Bai Kui Hua (White Sunflower Head, seven heads), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Sheng Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, each 5 fen).
Preparation and Administration: Cut into coarse powder. Prepare as one dose, decoct two cups of water until one cup remains, take hot before meals. (This treatment focuses on cold sensation in the vagina and pain radiating to the heart, so Liangjiang is the sovereign herb, Ganjiang is the assistant. Renshen and Baizhu are omitted because pain conditions should not be tonified. Chaihu and Fangfeng overcome dampness and raise yang; Kuihua and Yuliren moisten dryness and dry dampness; Gancao and Chenpi harmonize the middle; Sheng Huangqin cools heat in the qi level. Comparing this with the previous formula yields insight.)
The above two formulas use the slipperiness of Kuihua and Yuliren to moisten dryness, suitable for cases of dryness and stagnation.
