此症因脾胃蓄痰。风火扰动而起。其唇或如口袋收撮。不能饮食。喉内风痰壅塞。或经一年

圣散。如毒入心包。脘中胀满。上气喘促。下部洞泄不止者死。

牙痛方

This syndrome arises from the accumulation of phlegm-dampness in the Spleen and Stomach, disturbed by Wind-Fire. The lips may contract like a purse, making eating impossible. Wind-phlegm obstructs the throat internally. It may occur once a year. Treatment involves washing the lips with Portulaca Oleracea Juice (Machezhen Zhi), probing to expel wind-phlegm using Xuanming Powder (Mirabilite) dipped in vinegar, pricking the Shaoshang acupoint (LU11) to bleed, blowing the Ben Yao (Secret Medicine) into the throat and applying it to the lips, and orally administering Fangfeng Tongsheng San (Saposhnikovia Decoction for Unblocking the Supreme). If the toxin enters the Pericardium, causing epigastric distension, upward rushing of Qi with panting, and unceasing diarrhea below, the prognosis is poor and often fatal.
"Cuokou Houfeng" Syndrome: Phlegm in the Stomach, lips resembling a purse as if pulled by a rope. Phlegm in the throat treated with Yuanming Powder; trismus treated by pricking Shaoshang acupoint (LU11) to bleed. Wash lips with Portulaca Oleracea Juice (Machezhen Zhi) to soften them. If not treated promptly, the toxin sinking into the brain will cause death. Quickly puncture the head of the abscess with a knife to drain blood, rinse thoroughly with salt water decoction, apply the secret medicine powder, and administer Jingfang San (Aucklandia and Saposhnikovia Powder) along with Xionghuang Huadu Wan (Realgar Antidote Pill) for recovery.
Xuyong (Soft Palate Abscess) forms in the middle of the hard palate, resembling a purple plum hanging in the throat. Speech is impaired, tongue movement is difficult, the head cannot bow, and red nasal discharge occurs. Total twenty herbs, ground into extremely fine powder. Mix evenly with the previous paste, form into small cakes finger-sized. Sun and dew-expose for seven days and nights, then place on earth covered by a clay pot, turning daily. After seven days, take out and dry in shade in a ventilated place. Store in porcelain bottles; usable after three months. Grind to fine powder before use. For every 2 fen of base powder, add:
Borneol (4 li), Musk (2 li), Pearl (4 li), Indian Cow-bezoar/Niu Huang (2 li), Coral (4 li), Calomel (2 li), Borax (2 li).

Realgar Borax, Dragon Bone, Processed Indigo Naturalis (Qingdai), Catechu, Saltpeter, Honeysuckle Flower (each 1 qian), Frankincense (5 fen, de-oiled), Myrrh (5 fen, de-oiled), Typhonium Rhizome (Baifuzi), Bear Gallbladder, Borneol, Musk, Pearl (each 3 fen), Indian Cow-bezoar (5 fen), Amber (5 fen).
Fifteen herbs total, grind to extremely fine powder, store in porcelain jar, keep airtight. Use for blowing into throat.
Jun Yao Formula:
Gardenia Fruit (3 qian, stir-fried), Mint Herb (1 liang), Coptis Rhizome (1 liang), Cimicifuga Rhizome (3 qian), Chicken Gizzard Membrane (2 qian).
Grind to fine powder, store in porcelain bottle.
Yuanshuang San (Frost Powder):
Mint Herb, Bombyx Batryticatus, Indigo Naturalis, Mirabilite, White Alum, Fire Saltpeter, Coptis Rhizome, Borax.
Eight herbs total, grind to fine powder. Take 7-8 pig gallbladders. On the first day of the twelfth lunar month, extract bile. Mix the herb powder with the bile, refill into gallbladders, tie with thread, wrap in green/red paper. Dig a pit 1 chi deep and wide. Hang the package horizontally inside using a bamboo pole, cover with board and soil tightly. Leave until Start of Spring (Lichun). Take out, dry in shade in wind. Remove shell and paper, grind to extremely fine powder. For every 1 liang of powder, add 3 fen of Borneol. Miraculous for throat diseases.
Shengji San (Flesh-Generating Powder):
Red Halloysite (Chishizhi, 5 fen), Cuttlefish Bone (1 qian, baked in bamboo leaf, shell removed), Dragon Bone (1 qian), Dragon's Blood (1 qian), Calomel (0.5 fen, de-oiled), Myrrh (1 qian, de-oiled), Cinnabar (1 qian, flown and stir-fried black), Angelica Dahurica Root (Baizhi, 3.5 fen), Clam Shell (Wenge, dose missing), Borneol (small amount).
Thirteen herbs total, grind to extremely fine powder, store in porcelain bottle, keep airtight. Blow small amounts into throat each time.
Zixia Yun (Purple Cloud Mist):
Mercury (1 qian), Cinnabar (1 qian), Lead (melted and mixed with mercury, 1 qian), Realgar (5 fen), Musk (5 li), Ever-soot (Baicaoshuang, 2 qian).
Grind to fine powder. For each strip of paper, use 5 fen of medicine, roll with mugwort. Smoke after meals daily. Seven strips is the limit; nine strips for severe cases leads to cure.
Jingu San (Golden Hoop Powder):
Rhubarb Root (1 liang, large ring-patterned or cross-hearted pieces best, wrapped in paper, baked, soaked in toilet for one month, taken out, washed, dried, ground), Angelica Dahurica Root (Baizhi, 5 qian), Honeycomb (3 qian, honey-fried), Hibiscus Mutabilis Leaf (2 liang, dried), Notopterygium Rhizome (Qianghuo, 5 qian).
Grind to extremely fine powder, store in porcelain ware. Mix with honey water, apply around swelling leaving center open to vent toxins. Keep moist with honey water.
Renzhongbai San (Human Urine Deposit Powder):
Urine Deposit (2 liang, from red urinal is best), Catechu (1 liang), Phellodendron Bark (6 qian), Mint Herb (6 qian), Indigo Naturalis (6 qian).
Six herbs total, grind to fine powder, store in porcelain jar, keep airtight. Blow into throat each time.
LvPao San (Green Robe Powder):
Phellodendron Bark (1 liang), Indigo Naturalis (3 qian), Tuoseng (1 qian).
Grind to extremely fine powder, blow into throat each time.
Jinsuo Chi (Golden Lock Key):
Saltpeter (2.5 liang), Borneol (1 qian), White Bombyx Batryticatus (1 qian), Realgar (2 qian).
Grind to fine powder, blow onto affected area.
Babao Gao (Eight Treasures Plaster - for sores, generating flesh, closing wounds):
Lead Monoxide (Huangdan, 1 liang), Palace Powder (Gongfen, 1 liang), Human Hair (1 liang, washed clean in boiling water), Verdigris (3 qian), Sheep Dung (1 pinch, stored in new jar, sun/dew exposed for 7 days, protected from rain).
Grind all above to powder. Use 4 liang Tung Oil and 8 liang Sesame Oil, boil in pot. Add human hair, fry on high heat until dissolved. Add yellow beeswax and herb powders, stir constantly with willow twig until drops form pearls when tested in water. Remove, cool to remove fire toxicity, then use.
Ershen San (Two Spirits Powder):
Dried Ginger (1 liang), Realgar (3 qian).
Grind two herbs to extremely fine powder, store in bottle. Blow onto painful area for immediate relief.
Huadu Dan (Detoxification Pill):
Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), Forsythia Fruit (Lianqiao), Platycodon Root (Jiegeng), Schizonepeta Spike (Jingjiesui), Angelica Sinensis (Danggui, each 1 liang, wine-washed), Licorice Root (Gancao), Red Peony Root (Chishao), Gardenia Fruit (Shanzhi), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin), Rehmannia Root (Xuanshen), Mint Herb (Bohe), Sophora Root (Shandougen), Rhinoceros Horn (Xijiao - *Note: Substitute legally*), Antelope Horn (Lingyangjiao, each 5 fen).

Baigao Fang (White Ointment Formula):
Processed Frankincense, Processed Myrrh, Catechu, Dragon's Blood, Calomel, Lead Oxide/Ding Fen (equal parts).
Grind to extremely fine powder. Melt 4 liang of Pork Back Fat, mix with powder, pound over thousand times. Add human milk and pound again. Apply warm as plaster when needed.
Jiedu Xionghuang Wan (Detoxifying Realgar Pill):
Realgar (1 liang), Croton Seed (14 grains, de-oiled and shell removed), Curcuma Aromatica Rhizome (Yujin, 1 liang).
Grind to extremely fine powder, bind with vinegar into pills size of mung beans. Take 7 pills per dose. Specifically treats acute throat emergencies, stubborn phlegm obstruction, lockjaw. Crush pill and灌 (pour/inject) down. Vomiting out all phlegm-saliva leads to cure. Has power to revive the dead.
Bingmei Wan (Ice Plum Pill): Specifically treats eighteen types of Hou Bi (Sore Throat). Excellent results.
Large Arisaema (25 fresh ones, sliced), Large Pinellia Tuber (25 pairs, sliced), Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit (4 liang), Mirabilite (4 liang), Platycodon Root (3 liang).
Alternative formula uses Licorice instead of Gleditsia.
Select 100 large green plums at 70% maturity. Soak in Mirabilite saline solution for one week. Grind herbs finely, mix with water, soak plums in herb water (water level 3 fingers above plums). Soak for 7 days, take out, sun-dry. Re-soak in herb juice, dry again, repeat until herb water is absorbed. Seal in porcelain vessel with wax. White frost on plums is better. Wrap in thin cotton paper, hold in mouth, allow saliva to slowly swallow. Phlegm dissolves, disease cures. One pill treats three people; do not discard lightly.
Gu Yao Fang (Hooping Medicine Formula):

Scutellaria Root (3 qian, raw), Coptis Rhizome (3 qian, raw), Gardenia Seed (3 qian, stir-fried black), Processed Dried Plum (5 qian, carbonized), Indigo Naturalis, Realgar (1 qian), Borax (3 qian), Chicken Gizzard Membrane (1 qian, avoid water contact), Urine Deposit (5 qian), Calcined Alum (1 qian).
Ten herbs total, process according to method, grind to extremely fine powder. Add Borneol (6 fen), Musk (3 fen).
For every 5 qian of this powder, add: Indian Cow-bezoar (2 fen), Verdigris (5 fen), Bear Gallbladder (5 fen), Pearl (5 fen), Catechu (8 fen).
Grind to extremely fine powder, seal tightly in porcelain bottle. Use small amount, blow into affected area. Blow 10+ times day and night, swallow slowly. As phlegm-saliva flows out, condition improves. If foul odor exists, rinse urgently with Clam Water. Or mash Pig Soap Grass and Chinese Tallow Tree seeds, add water, filter, pour/gargle, then blow medicine. Great effect.
Chuihou San (Blowing-Throat Powder - Mr. Tang's Transmission for all oral miscellaneous diseases):
Urine Deposit (2 qian), Borax (5 qian), Indigo Naturalis (2 qian), Chinese Gall (5 qian), Borneol (5 fen).
Add two extra herbs: Fir Wood Charcoal (1 qian), Liuyi San (1 qian).

Grind to extremely fine powder, store in porcelain bottle. Before use, rinse mouth with hot water, then wash with Decoction of Schizonepeta and Chinese Gall plus a little Silver Cinnabar. Then treat Running Horse Dental Gangrene.
Wuhou Zhi (Afternoon Juice - i.e., White Horse Manure): Two cups. If hard to identify, prepare powder in advance and soak in water temporarily to extract juice.
Wannian Gan (3.7 qian - i.e., Urine Salt/Ammonium Carbonate): Calcine in new tile until carbonized, grind to fine powder.
Mix both medicines, gargle. Then blow Ice-Musk Flesh-Generating Medicine, then blow Secret Medicine. Both cure.
Da Xiao Kounei Chou Gan Chuang (Large/Small Mouth Foul Ulcers):

Borax (2 fen), Borneol (2 fen), Alum (2 fen), Coptis Rhizome (2 fen), Phellodendron Bark (2 fen).
Grind to extremely fine powder, store in porcelain bottle, keep airtight. Use blowing tube to insert into throat to open passage. Self-heals in 3-5 applications.
Hou Bi Bu Neng Kai Guan Ji Fang (Emergency for Inability to Open Throat):
Old Melon (1 piece, scrape out pulp), Cinnabar (3 qian), Mangxiao (3 qian).
