Those poisoned by coal dust may suddenly faint and die if not rescued promptly (Yan Yao Fang). Immediately administer fresh, drawn water.
For those suffering from coal poisoning with dizziness, nausea, and collapse, quickly move them to a cool, ventilated place and administer brine water.
Swallowing Sichuan pepper while keeping the mouth closed causes body coldness, vomiting of white foam, and a critical condition resembling death (Jin Gui Fang). Drinking "earth slurry water" (Di Jiang Shui) will detoxify it.
Ingesting tung oil causes incessant vomiting (Secret Recipe). Immediately drinking hot wine will resolve it.
Accidentally swallowing a river snail that lodges in the throat can be fatal within moments. Take a live duck, pour water into its throat, wait a moment, then hang the duck upside down to let it vomit saliva. Administer this saliva to the patient; the snail will dissolve naturally.
Accidentally swallowing plums or peaches that lodge in the throat: Boil dog bones to make a decoction, apply it to the top of the head, and the object will descend.
Another method: Pour a small amount of water over a child's head, catch the runoff, and give it to the patient to drink; the object will descend.
Empirical Formula: Scrape ivory into powder, sprinkle it on the surface of fresh drawn water, and have the patient inhale it; the object will descend.
Empirical Formula: Eat aged stove sugar (Zao Tang); the object will dissolve naturally.
Another method: Boil sesame oil until bubbling, take it warm; the object will descend.
Empirical Formula: Burn pig teeth into powder (1 qian), mix with boiling water, and take orally.
Hair entangled in the throat unable to be expelled: Ash from one's own disordered hair, mixed with boiling water (1 qian), taken orally.
Empirical Formula: Swallow two raw eggs urgently without chewing; the next day, the egg will wrap around and expel the object.
Centipede accidentally entering the throat and biting, causing near-death: Pour fresh blood from a live rooster into the throat; the centipede will exit.
A sensation of movement in the throat, worsened pain upon expectoration, skin cracking with fluid exudation, red and swollen eyes without pain, and feet swollen like a bucket but still ambulatory constitute an extremely rare and difficult-to-diagnose syndrome. This occurs because one ate raw vegetables containing a centipede unknowingly. The centipede then generates above the stomach opening. Entering the stomach causes stomach pain; ascending to the throat causes throat pain; hunger exacerbates the pain. The prescription uses one chicken, boiled and seasoned with five spices, emitting a pungent aroma. While the patient sleeps, place the chicken near their mouth; the centipede will naturally crawl out. If any centipedes emerge, capture them immediately to prevent re-entry. Whether one or several, once expelled, self-healing occurs. Generally, if nothing moves in the throat, there are no centipedes. Thereafter, use Quanfu Decoction (All-Skin Decoction): Poria (Fu Ling) 3 liang, Scutellariae Radix (Huang Qin), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Dang Gui), and Coicis Semen (Yi Yi Ren) each 1 liang, Paeoniae Radix Alba (Bai Shao) 5 qian, Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix (Sheng Gan Cao) 2 qian, Schizonepetae Spica (Jing Jie) and Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chen Pi) each 1 qian, Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fang Feng) 0.5 qian. Decoct in water and take orally. After ten doses, skin cracks heal, and foot swelling subsides. Since the centipede is in the Upper Jiao, it cannot be killed by medicine or food, as medicines reach the stomach upon swallowing, while the centipede remains above the stomach opening. Thus, it must be guided out first, followed by herbal regulation of Qi and Blood for self-healing. Skin cracking results from centipede toxic fumes lodging beside the Lung; since the Lung governs skin and hair, the skin cracks. Foot swelling resembles a bucket because the feet correspond to the Kidney region. The Lung resides above and is the Mother of the Kidney; when the Mother is ill, the Child suffers. However, Kidney Water is ultimately sufficient, so the toxic fumes remain in the Kidney region, causing large, floating skin swelling rather than bone disease, allowing ambulation. Eyes belong to the Liver; redness and swelling occur due to toxic fumes from Lung Qi steaming the Liver (Mi Lu).
