When stomach fire is excessive, use Sanliang (3 liang) of Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), not fearing overdose. For profuse sweating but incomplete eruption, use Yi'erqian (1-2 qian) of Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), not considering it too hot. For limbs where the rash does not reach, or use Wuliuqian (5-6 qian) of Guizhi, do not worry about it being too strong. For severe lung fire and toxicity, use Bajiuqian (8-9 qian) of Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), not feeling it is too much. For wheezing and cough, Gouding is still used; for profuse sweat, Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) is necessary; for sore throat, Shegan (Belamcandae Rhizoma), Shandougen (Sophorae Tonkinensis Radix), Dalizi, Kucao, Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba), Jiegeng, and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) are used; among these eight flavors, deep consideration is most appropriate. For phlegm conditions, Tianma is combined with Danning, plus Zhuli and Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus) swallowed. For vomiting pus and blood, Huangqin, Lian, and Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus) are used; for abdominal pain, Zhishi is effective as a god; for bone-steaming fever, Digupi (Lycei Cortex) and Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) are used; for joint soreness and pain, Shichangpu is used. Huaihua (Sophorae Flos), Huangqin, Zhike (Aurantii Fructus), Chuanlian (Coptidis Rhizoma), and Shanzhi can treat bloody dysentery. Adding Shigao and using it heavily, for post-recession incomplete eruption with wheezing, still use Dalizi, Chenyi, Gouding, Tinglizi (Descurainiae Semen et Herba), Sangpi (Mori Cortex), and Douling (Stemonae Radix); in severe cases, Qinglong Tang (Green Dragon Decoction) is used, with hundred successes out of hundred attempts. Caution is especially advised.
If the forehead corners and both Taiyang areas show many rashes, remove Shengma from this formula; having more rashes on the head and face is auspicious; Henabi and Sunjian should be increased; for rashes on the body but not reaching the limbs, Guizhi and Bianya are correct. For high fever and red cheeks, use Shengma and Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix); Qianhu (Peucedani Radix), Jiegeng, Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Fuhong (Rubiae Flower? Likely specific local term), Honghua (Carthami Flos), Chuanxiong, Zhike, and Mutong; Henabi and Sunjian for the forehead. For blue complexion and slow spirit, use Congsu Yin (Green Onion and Perilla Drink) to disperse: Congsu Hong consists of Congbai, Suye, Honghua, Fuhong, Chenpi, Jiegeng, Qianhu, and Chuanxiong. For expelling rashes, Radish seed (Laifuzi) is best; Hejie San (Harmonizing Powder) is used by removing Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix). Hejie San consists of Shengma, Gegen, Jiegeng, Jingjie, Fangfeng, Fudao (likely Fuhong or similar), Chenyi, Bohe, Lang, Zhike, and Mutong, showing significant efficacy for chest oppression, irritability, and difficulty in urination and defecation.
