Xiaoxuting Decoction (from *Qianjin Fang*): Universally treats various diseases such as Eight Winds, Five Obstructions, Wei Syndrome (flaccidity syndrome), and Jue Syndrome (cold limbs syndrome). It takes the climate of a year as the general principle and the Six Channels as distinctions. This is due to internal weakness from Wind-Damp-Heat, manifesting as heavy body from Wind-Heat, or emaciation, hemiplegia of one arm, or obesity with hemiplegia, or fear and forgetfulness. Excessive thinking leads to forgetfulness because of insufficient Essence. Thus, chaotic Heart generates all diseases, quiet Heart stops all diseases. This formula calms the Heart, nourishes Spirit, harmonizes Yin and Yang, preventing excess.

For those already ill, regular use is recommended for both men and women; children with Wind Epilepsy or acute/chronic convulsions may also take it. For seasonal Cold Damage, modify according to seasons.

For stroke with spontaneous sweating, confusion, fever without aversion to wind/cold, inability to lie flat, this is Wind-Heat irritability, treated by Xieqing Wan (Drain Blue Pill). If urine is scant, do not promote urination with drugs; since spontaneous sweating leaks fluids and internal urine is low, promoting urination would deplete Ying and Wei, failing to control Fire, worsening irritability and heat.
