The Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian originates at the tip of the great toe (Yinbai, SP1), follows the medial margin of the white flesh (Dadu, SP2), passes behind the medial malleolus prominence (Taibai, SP3), ascends to the anterior-inferior aspect of the medial malleolus (Shangqiu, SP4), then runs along the posterior aspect of the tibia (referring to the fleshy part of the calf), ascends behind the tibial bone, emerges anterior to the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian, and continues upward along the anterior-medial aspect of the knee and thigh (Yinlingquan, SP9). It enters the abdomen, connects with the Spleen organ, and links with the Stomach organ. It pierces the diaphragm, runs alongside the pharynx, connects with the root of the tongue, and scatters under the tongue. Its branch diverges from the Stomach, ascends through the diaphragm, and pours into the Heart (where it intersects with the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian).
When pathological changes occur in this meridian, symptoms include stiffness of the tongue root, vomiting after eating, epigastric pain, abdominal distension, frequent belching, a feeling of relief after defecation or passing gas but persistent heaviness of the body. The meridian primarily governs diseases generated by the Spleen, manifesting as pain at the tongue root, inability to move the body, difficulty swallowing, irritability, urgency and pain in the epigastrium, cold-type malaria, loose stools, mass-like diarrhea, yellow urine, jaundice, inability to lie flat, swelling of the inner thigh and knee when standing forcibly, and dysfunction of the great toe. In terms of pulse diagnosis, excess conditions present with the Cun position pulse being three times larger than the Renying pulse; deficiency conditions present with the Cun position pulse being smaller than the Renying pulse. (From *Ling Shu*) ○ During the Si hour (9:00-11:00 AM), Qi and Blood pass from Chongyang (ST42) and intersect at Yinbai, ascending along the leg and abdomen to stop at the Dabao point in the axilla. (From *Ru Men*) The root of the Taiyin meridian is at Yinbai, and its knot is at Tacang (Zhongwan, CV12). (From *Ling Shu*)
