Q: What is the cause of small boils appearing on the eyelids, commonly known as "stealing needle" (Hordeolum)? A: This is caused by heat-toxin in the Yangming Stomach Meridian. It may result from consuming foods that cause stagnation and heat, or from excessive eating, causing stomach meridian heat to ascend to the eyes. Consequently, sores and toxins frequently appear between the eyelids, commonly called "stealing needle." For this condition, flip the eyelid, wash away stasis blood, and apply Qingliang San (Cooling Powder). Initially, it is advisable to take Tuichi San (Redness-Removing Powder), followed by Tongjing San (Essence-Unblocking Powder) and Xiapi Yin (Splea-Clearing Decoction).
Tuichi San (Redness-Removing Powder)
Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chishao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), Sangbaipi (Mori Cortex), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus).
Take each dose decocted in water, administered after meals.
Tongjing San (Essence-Unblocking Powder)

Add three slices of fresh ginger to the above ingredients, administer after meals.

"Black nebula like a pearl" refers to a condition where both the Kidney and Liver are exhausted, occurring in individuals with constrained seven emotions. Toxic qi attacks and fills the area, extreme heat causes tearing, difficulty opening the eyes, and pain. Even the Water Wheel (pupil) protrudes, with black nebulas resembling beans or pearls of varying sizes, pushing up the eyelids, causing grittiness and obstruction, making eye movement difficult, leading to restlessness in sleep and appetite. It starts in one eye and later affects both. The treatment method involves using a small sharp needle to pierce horizontally through each one. When foul fluid flows out from the black nebula, it flattens; the process is as easy as picking up a mustard seed, resulting in immediate recovery and peace, allowing the eye to open. If one is unfamiliar with this therapy, taking cooling agents or applying cooling medicines will be ineffective. In children, such cases are mostly Ganyan (Malnutrition Eye Disease); the nebula may rise like a small mushroom. Acupuncture is not suitable here; the treatment method is recorded under the section for pediatric Ganyan. At the site where the needle breaks the root of the nebula, Dan Yao (Mineral Medicine) should be blown/applied lightly to dissolve the nebula root.
Q: What is the cause of nebulas appearing on the Wind Wheel (cornea) like pearls, fly heads, or crab eyes? A: This is due to wind-heat and qi stagnation in the Liver and Kidney meridians. Treatment: For long-standing high black nebulas, the top of the pearl-like protrusion should be picked/broken. For painful cases, Boyun Tang (Cloud-Pushing Decoction) is indicated, primarily governed by Mingmu Xixin Tang (Eye-Brightening Asarum Decoction). For severe heat, Danggui Longdan Tang (Angelica Gentian Decoction) is indicated. Apply Erba Dan (Two-Eight Mineral Powder) mixed with milk juice. For cases not yet formed into this condition, infer them as sudden onset.
Boyun Tang (Cloud-Pushing Decoction) Treats eye black nebulas like pearls, crab-eye corneal opacity, pain, and wind-qiu damaging the Liver and Kidney meridians. It is suitable for consumption.
Huangqi (Astragali Radix, honey-fried), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), Gange (Puerariae Lobatae Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma - remove if heat is present), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica), Ben Cao (Ligustici Wallichii Rhizoma et Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex).
Grind all into powder. Take 6-7 qian per dose, decocted in water.
