Treats infantile bullous impetigo (a skin disease characterized by blisters). Pulverize Shihuang (Talcum) and Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) together into powder. Mix with Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis) to form a paste. Puncture the blisters with a gleditsia spine to drain the fluid, then apply the medicine; it is miraculously effective.
Alternatively, puncture the blisters with a cloth-wrapped needle to drain the fluid, steam Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian) in water, and sweep the liquid onto the affected area with a chicken feather; this is also effective.
Removes necrotic tissue without damaging new tissue, causes minimal pain, and is the most gentle and safe method. Remove the shells of Crotonis Fructus (Badou), stir-fry until black on a new tile, grind into a paste for use. Adjust the dosage according to the severity of the lesion. Apply to the top of the sore and cover with Wanying Gao (All-Purpose Plaster); if there are sinus tracts, wrap the medicine in cotton paper twists, insert them frequently changing several strips, and the necrotic tissue will be dissolved and expelled. In cases of extreme hardness that cannot be removed by Wu Jin San (Black Gold Powder), apply Huafu Zishuang Gao (Decay-Removing Purple Frost Ointment), though ultimately Wu Jin San is more reliable.
For any carbuncles, ulcers, or swelling toxins at the initial stage, immediately take 2–3 liang of Yuanzhi Rou (Radix Polygalae Seedless Flesh), remove the heart, boil thoroughly in clear wine, pound into a paste, and apply to the affected area. Cover with oil paper and secure with cloth bandages. After one night, the toxicity will vanish instantly. This has been tested repeatedly with miraculous results.
When treating swelling toxins at the initial stage, they can be eliminated immediately. Internal administration of this medicine combined with external application of Yuanzhi Gao (Polygalae Paste) will dissipate all malignant toxins, but early administration is advisable. If the sore has already formed pus, it must be externally drained and cannot be dissipated internally. Decoct 2 liang of Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) and 2 qian of Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), and take with clear wine. If the toxin is located in the lower body, add 2 qian of Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix).
Applying this remedy allows necrotic tissue to fall off naturally and new tissue to grow; it is a spiritual elixir for saving lives in surgery. Take equal parts of Ming Ruxiang (Boswelliae Resina) and Zhen Moyao (Myrrhae Resina). Place these two ingredients on bamboo leaf skins, dry over fire, and grind into an extremely fine powder. Apply to the affected area and cover with a plaster. When the toxin is cleared, the wound will close; if the toxin remains, it will draw out pus. Its efficacy is beyond description.
For spreading swelling, apply around the periphery, leaving only the top of the sore exposed. Mix 4 liang of Chixiaodou (Adzuki Bean), 4 liang of Furong Ye (Hibisci Leaf), 4 liang of Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), 4 liang of Ju Hua Ye (Chrysanthemi Indici Folium), and 4 liang of Baiji (Bletillae Rhizoma) into a fine powder. For every 1 liang of powder, add 1 fen of Shexiang (Moschus). Mix with rice vinegar to apply around the base; mixing with egg white is also acceptable. Apply Jinsan (Gold Powder) to the top of the sore and cover with Wanying Gao (All-Purpose Plaster).
