One is known as *Lonicerae Japonicae Caulis* (Honeysuckle Vine). It treats all kinds of unnamed swellings and toxic sores. Crush fresh *Jinyinhua* (Honeysuckle Flower) to extract the juice, mix with hot yellow wine, and take orally.
Another prescription: For the initial stage of carbuncles and back infections (*Yongju Fabei*), take a large handful of *Jinyinhua* including vines and leaves, crush them thoroughly, add a small amount of wine, apply around the affected area leaving one opening to drain the toxic vapors. Then, use five taels of *Jinyinhua*, one tael of raw licorice root tips (*Sheng Gancao Jie*), three bowls of water, and one bowl of light wine. Simmer slowly until two bowls remain, strain the dregs, and divide into three doses to be taken within twenty-four hours. For severe cases, continue for three courses; once bowel and bladder movements become smooth, the medicinal power takes effect, and the sore will subside spontaneously. This has repeatedly shown miraculous effects.
For dry mouth with irritability and thirst, or hunger immediately after eating, which indicates an impending carbuncle or ulcer, it is advisable to preemptively detoxify. Use *Jinyinhua*, either boiled into a paste or decocted into juice, taken morning and evening mixed with wine.
For bloody dysentery caused by heat-toxin, decoct the *Jinyinhua* vine in water and drink the juice.
For podagra (painful swelling of the foot) and leukorrhea with urinary difficulty in women, grind *Jinyinhua* into powder and take with hot wine.
Another name is *Taraxaci Herba* (Dandelion), also called Yellow Flower Ground Dandelion. It grows everywhere in rural areas; look for the one with a single stem emerging from the center and blooming with a single yellow flower.
It is a key herb for gynecological conditions such as milk stasis, mastitis, and breast pain. Decoct *Pugongying* in water to make a concentrated juice, mix with wine for oral administration, and apply the crushed dregs to the affected area to resolve the condition.
For hemorrhoid pain, boil *Pugongying*, press dry, chop finely, mix with sesame oil, and consume. Two jin (approx. 1 kg) will cure it.
For back carbuncles, even if blackish-blue in color, apply crushed fresh herb externally. If the skin color returns to normal within three days, it heals. Do not apply if the wound is already ulcerated.
For all unnamed swellings and toxic sores, apply fresh crushed herb externally; for dried herb, make a paste and apply, which is also effective.
For female heat-strangury (hot urinary difficulty), crush *Pugongying* to extract juice and swallow with yellow wine.
The above three herbs—*Chenshixian* (Portulaca Oleracea), *Jinyinhua* (Honeysuckle Flower), and *Pugongying* (Dandelion)—are essential medicines for treating sores. They are available everywhere at no cost. Storing them in advance enables the treatment of major diseases.
Two liang of *Jinyinhua* (Honeysuckle Flower) and three qian of raw *Gancao* (Licorice Root). Decoct in water and take with clear wine. If the toxin is in the lower jiao, add two qian of *Niuxi* (Achyranthes Root); pregnant women should avoid adding *Niuxi*.
For any initial swelling and toxicity, take this prescription urgently. Externally apply *Yuanzhi Gao* (Polygala Paste, see Volume 11 for formulas for various toxic sores). All kinds of toxic sores will dissipate immediately. However, early administration is necessary for dissipation; if delayed, the sore toxin will mature, pus will inevitably rupture outward, and dissipation becomes impossible!
Another prescription: For carbuncles, ulcers, swellings, and toxic sores, regardless of cold, heat, deficiency, or excess. Take *Yuanzhi Rou* (Polygala Meat), soak and wash with rice washing water, remove the heart, and grind into powder. Take three qian per dose, decocted with two cups of wine. Apply the dregs to the affected area.
