Pulse Diagnosis: For spermatorrhea (spermatorrhea) and leukorrhea (leukorrhea), verification should be sought in the Chi (Cun, Guan, Chi) pulse position. If the pulse presents as Jie (Knotted), Kou (Hollow), Dong (Surging), or Jin (Tight), these are definitive indicators of these two conditions. A Wei (Fine) and Se (Choppy) pulse indicates damage to essence; a Hong (Surging) and Shuo (Rapid) pulse indicates forcing by fire; there may also be Heart Qi deficiency, manifesting as a short and small pulse at the Left Cun position. A Chi (Slow) pulse suggests the condition is treatable, while a Ji (Urgent) and Xi (Rapid) pulse portends premature death.
Evil pathogens invade the Yin aspect, causing the Shen (Spirit) to fail to reside within its abode. Thus, when the mind is moved by external stimuli, emission occurs during dreams. This condition subsequently manifests in three ways: In youth, when Qi and blood are vigorous, or for widowers who restrain themselves, forcibly suppressing sexual desire without realizing it, this emission is like a bottle overflowing when full. Some people experience this; it is considered disease-free and requires no medication. If Heart Qi is deficient and unable to govern, or if Heat affects the Heart causing Yang Qi to fail to consolidate, this emission is like liquid pouring from a tilted bottle. Many people suffer from this; the pathology is particularly mild, and mild-acting formulas are appropriate. If Zang-Fu organs are chronically weak and True Yuan (Original Qi) has been depleted for a long time, with the Heart failing to control thoughts and the Kidney failing to secure essence, this emission is like water leaking from a cracked bottle. Few people suffer from this; the pathology is most severe, requiring strong tonic decoctions. Some claim that dream emission is worse than sexual exhaustion; this is merely a common secular belief. Have they not observed the differences in severity? Furthermore, there is another group whose Shen Qi (Spiritual Energy) is consumed, generating bizarre phenomena. Wind pathogens exploit their deficiency, and "ghost qi" interferes with righteous Qi, often leading to interactions with spirits. This represents an incomprehensible misfortune. Pharmacological therapy indeed assists in treatment; this statement is true.
Those who have abstained from sexual activity for a long time and possess abundant spirit need not worry. Dream emission caused by mental attachment results from the movement of Minister Fire following the Sovereign Fire. Nocturnal emission occurring after dreaming of sexual intercourse is termed Meng Yi (Dream Emission) (use the following formulas).
Qing Xin Tang (Clear the Heart Decoction)

Emission occurring without dreams, where semen flows out spontaneously, is due to slippage of the seminal pathway. This arises from internal deficiency of the Heart and Kidney, failing to maintain consolidation, all driven by the movement of Minister Fire.

Supplementary Prescriptions
Method to Stop Spermatorrhea and Night Sweats: Use a short bed or rush mat, sleep on your side with legs curled, do not extend your feet; the illness will heal naturally.
Bao Sheng Dan (Protect Life Pill) Treats nocturnal dream emission occurring every night for ten days, or recurring after a night's rest.
Young Linderae Radix (Nen Wuyao), Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus (Yizhiren), Cinnabaris (Zhusha) [separately ground, water-flavored, reserve half for coating, one tael each above], Dry Dioscoreae Rhizoma (Gan Shanyao) [two taels].
Grind each into powder separately. Make a paste from the Shanyao to form pills. If not cohesive, add some wine. Form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take one hundred pills per dose, send down with light salt water on an empty stomach.
Dao Yang Method (Reverse Yang Method): At midnight (Zi hour), when Yang Qi is rising, lie supine with eyes closed and mouth shut, tongue pressing against the palate, arch the waist. Use the middle finger of the left hand to press the Weilu acupoint. Use the thumb of the right hand to press the root of the ring finger while making a fist. Extend both legs, curl both feet' ten toes inward. Draw up one breath, visualize the spine and back of the head, ascending to the top of the head, slowly reaching the Dantian. Only then calmly lower the waist, legs, hands, and feet. Repeat as before if Yang declines. If Yang has not declined, repeat two or three times. If Yang does not rise initially, force it to rise to proceed. The deficiency or excess in humans arises from excessive sexual desire in youth and excessive coitus, causing Water and Fire to fail to interact, leading to this disease. Practicing this method not only quickly cures seminal emission but, over time, raises Kidney Water and lowers Heart Fire, achieving equilibrium of Water and Fire, ensuring permanent health.
Scholar Chen Guilin suffered from nocturnal dream emission, occurring one to two or three to five times monthly. After emission, he experienced mental confusion and physical fatigue. I diagnosed his six pulses as Fine, Choppy, and powerless, indicating Yin deficiency with hyperactive fire. I administered Chen Sha Ji Ji Wan (Cinnabar Equilibrium Pill) added with Placenta Hominis (Ziheche) and Ostreae Concha (Longgu). It took effect after several months. Unfortunately, he relapsed frequently due to failure to observe precautions. Therefore, I composed a colloquial verse to warn him: "Nurturing Essence and Yuan requires regulating intercourse; dispelling worldly burdens is best. Eat only half-full, prefer bland diet; limit alcohol to three tenths, avoid harm. Medicines should be taken diligently as needed; fame and fortune have their share, do not rush. If you savor these few lines, it is the prescription for immortality."
Director Zhu suffered from emission upon exertion, followed immediately by toothache. Using Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) added with Pinelliae Rhizoma (Banxia), Poria (Fuling), and Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao), along with Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia), he gradually recovered; further treated with Shi Quan Da Bu Tang (Ten Complete Great Tonifying Decoction) added with Ophiopogonis Radix (Maimendong) and Schisandrae Fructus (Wuweizi) until cured (see Tonification section).
A man suffered from spermatorrhea and leukorrhea, dry mouth with thirst, constipation, and severe afternoon fever. Treated with Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) added with Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao) and Scrophulariae Radix (Xuanshen), along with Jian Ba Wei Wan (Modified Eight-Ingredient Pill), he recovered (see Tonification section).
