Gualou San (Trichosanthes Powder)
Treats the condition where, during one's prime, one fails to be prudent and cherishes their health, indulging in lust. As one ages, Kidney Qi becomes deficient; although sexual intercourse is avoided, excessive consumption of Dan Shi (cinnabar and sulfur pills) causes True Qi to dissipate while the qi of the drugs stands alone. Symptoms include dry and scorched lips and mouth, spontaneous emission of essence, dark yellow urine, dry and hard stools, and urination occurring more than a hundred times day and night. It is necessary to clear heat and tonify Qi.
Bai Fu Ling (Poria with Removed Skin), Tian Hua Fen (Trichosanthes Root), Xuan Lian (Scutellaria Baicalensis), Bai Bian Dou (White Hyacinth Bean), Ren Shen (Ginseng with Removed Radicle), Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Gan Cao Jie (Licorice Knots), Han Shui Shi (Natrii Sulfas), Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala with Removed Radicle).
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with hot water. Effect is immediate.
Shigao Ji Tang (Gypsum and Shepherd's Purse Decoction)
Treats Qiang Zhong (Priapism associated with Xiao Ke). This often results from indulgence in sexual desire, consumption of rich and flavorful foods, or taking Dan Shi pills. True Qi is depleted, and drug qi manifests yin-pathology, causing thirst and polydipsia, food intake doubling, constant erection without coitus but with seminal emission. Thus, deficiency-heat arises in the Middle Jiao and flows down to the Lower Jiao. Among the three Xiao disorders, this is the most difficult to treat.
Ji (Shepherd's Purse - *Note: Text implies a specific herb named 'Ji', possibly referring to Qing Dai or similar, kept as original*), Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum, each 3 liang), Ren Shen (Ginseng with Removed Radicle), Fu Shen (Poria with Removed Wood), Gua Lou Gen (Trichosanthes Root), Ci Shi (Magnetitum, crushed), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma with removed hairs), Gan Ge (Puerariae Radix).
Cut the ingredients into pieces for decoction. For each dose, use 3 sheng of water, add one pig kidney with fat membrane removed, and 1 he of black beans. Boil until 1.5 sheng remains. Remove the kidney and beans, add the herbal powder (text says "add medicine four", likely implying 4 qian or fen based on context), and decoct further.
Huanglian Zhudu Wan (Coptis Pig Stomach Pill)
Treats Qiang Zhong and Xiao Ke. After taking Gualou San and Shigao Ji Tang, this pill can be taken subsequently. It also provides nourishment.
Zhu Du (Pig Stomach, one piece, cleaned according to culinary methods), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma with removed roots), Xiao Mai (Tritici Fructus, stir-fried, each 5 liang), Tian Hua Fen (Trichosanthes Root), Fu Shen (Poria with Removed Wood, each 4 liang).
Grind the five ingredients into powder, place inside the pig stomach, sew it shut, and steam in a steamer until extremely soft. Pound in a wooden mortar with a small pestle, form into pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 70 pills per dose.
Yangsusu Tang (Poppy Seed Decoction)
Treats Shen Ke (Kidney Thirst) and resolves the toxicity of the Five Minerals.
Yang Su Zi (Papaveris Semen)
Boil the poppy seeds into a thin porridge, mix with honey, and drink.
Jiajian Sanhuang Wan (Modified Three Yellows Pill)
Treats heat-thirst caused by Dan Shi toxicity. Based on clinical judgment, it should only be used for patients with excess syndromes.
Spring: Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, 4 liang), Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, 3 liang), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 4 liang)
Summer: Huang Qin (6 liang), Da Huang (1 liang), Huang Lian (7 liang)
Autumn: Huang Qin (6 liang), Da Huang (2 liang), Huang Lian (3 liang)
Winter: Huang Qin (3 liang), Da Huang (4 liang), Huang Lian (2 liang)
Grind the above into powder, bind with refined honey to make pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 10 pills per dose. The disease will be cured after one month of medication.
