Qi deficiency leads to dizziness and mental clouding. Deficiency patterns manifest as hot tears flowing and blurred vision (seeing flowers); heat patterns manifest as red meridians, obstruction, astringency, and pain. Wind invasion exacerbates swelling and itching, causing the eyelashes to curl inward (inverted eyelashes). Wind-heat affecting the Spleen and Stomach is lamentable. Internal cataracts are primarily caused by excessive sexual activity depleting Essence; dietary toxicity or miasma obscuring the clear orifices causes fleshy pterygium protruding over the cornea. Excessive alcohol consumption damages the Heart and Liver. These clinical manifestations must be recognized clearly; wise physicians use medications with caution and restraint.
The left Cun pulse is flooding and rapid, indicating Heart Fire blazing. The Guan pulse is wiry and flooding, indicating Liver Fire hyperactive. The right Guan pulse is both wiry and flooding, indicating Liver Wood carrying Ministerial Fire. Both Chi pulses are floating and flooding, indicating exhaustion of Kidney Water and prevalence of Wind-Heat.
