Take four liang of ginger juice and four liang of sesame oil, mix with wine, and take orally. Use Suxmu (Sappanwood) to invigorate blood, Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) to descend fire, Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) to harmonize the middle jiao; decocting with Tongbian (Child's Urine) yields excellent results. For injuries in the lower part, purgation may be used, but one must first apply tonification and suppuration methods, followed by expelling blood stasis; for injuries in the upper part, drinking leek juice or mixing it with urine is suitable. One must strictly avoid drinking cold water, as blood coagulates upon contact with cold water; if even a trace of blood enters the heart, death will ensue. Jiegus San (Bone-Setting Powder): Moyao (Myrrh, 5 qian), Ziran Tong (Natural Copper, 5 liang, quenched in vinegar), Huashi (Talcum, 2 liang), Longgu (Fossilized Bones, 3 qian), Chishizhi (Red Halloysite, 3 qian), Shexiang (Musk, 1 zi, separately ground). Grind the above into powder, mix well with good vinegar to form a paste, boil until mostly dry, then stir-fry until completely dry. Add Shexiang (Musk) just before use, place on the tongue, and swallow with warm wine. Dosing should be adjusted based on whether the injury is upper or lower, and relative to meal times. If pain persists after bone union, remove Longgu (Fossilized Bones) and Chishizhi (Red Halloysite), and consume the remainder of the formula for extreme efficacy. Another prescription: Dongguapi (Winter Melon Peel) and Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin) in equal parts, stir-fried until dry and ground into powder, taken with wine mixed, aiming for a state of mild intoxication. For fractures with dark-colored blood infiltration: Huashi (Talcum, 6 fen) and Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 fen), ground into powder, taken with Ginseng Decoction. Next, take one cup of fresh ginger juice and natural juice, one cup of good rice vinegar, and four single-seed soaps (Soapberry fruits). Break the soaps and place them in the ginger juice and rice vinegar, filter through gauze to remove coarse residues, and decoct into a plaster for application; this can also be used for widespread injuries.
Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark), Shengdihuang (Rehmannia Root), and Zijingpi (Broussonetia Bark) are all essential herbs for treating pain caused by blood heat. Cooling herbs should prioritize removing blood stasis. For formulas like Jimingsan (Rooster-Crowing Powder), grind Shengdihuang (Rehmannia Root) and Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark) into powder, mix with Tongbian (Child's Urine) for topical application, or add leek juice. For unbroken skin, crush jiucai (Chinese Chives) and cong tou (Scallion Bulbs), stir-fry until hot, and apply; replace when cool. For plasters, use ingredients such as Zijingpi (Broussonetia Bark), Ruxiang (Frankincense), Moyao (Myrrh), Shengdihuang (Rehmannia Root), Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark), and Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome). Another prescription: place wood ear mushrooms (Auricularia Auricula-Judae) in a wooden spoon, soak in boiling water until soft, stir until the water evaporates, grind finely in a stone mortar, and apply to the wound. Another prescription: use fresh young roots of Zhuma (Ramie Root), wash clean, grind together with salt, and apply to the wound for miraculous effect. For severe injuries, use more salt. Another prescription: grind Dahuang (Rhubarb Root and Rhizome) and Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark) into powder, mix with juice of Shengdihuang (Rehmannia Root) for topical application; reapply when dry for excellent results.
