To treat tubercles (subcutaneous nodules) in adults and children, located on the neck, lateral neck, shins, or arms. If presenting as swollen toxic masses, they are mostly located between the skin and fascia, largely due to phlegm condensing into nodules that do not dissipate. Inquire about the patient's dietary preferences; after employing emetic or purgative methods, use medication to resolve the nodules. For lesions on the head and neck, use *Bombyx Batryticatus* (Jiangcan), stir-fried *Rhei Radix et Rhizoma* (Chao Dahuang), indigo naturalis (*Qingdai*) soaked in wine, and *Arisaema cum Bile* (Danning), ground into powder, formed into honey pills for holding in the mouth to dissolve. For phlegm nodules arising under the chin and cheeks, use *Erchen Tang* (Two-Cured Decoction) added with *Forsythiae Fructus* (Lianqiao), *Saposhnikoviae Radix* (Fangfeng), *Chuanxiong Rhizome* (Chuanxiong), *Gleditsia Sinensis Spine* (Zaojiaoci), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin) processed with wine, *Atractylodis Rhizoma* (Cangzhu), and *Bombyx Batryticatus* (Jiangcan). A woman over forty years old, with a pale complexion and thin body, irritable temperament, experienced a large dissatisfaction three months prior, after which a lump appeared below the breast near the costal margin, gradually enlarging to cover the heart area, accompanied by slight pain and chest diaphragmatic oppression, food intake reduced to one-quarter of normal, morning bitterness in the mouth, and both wrists showing a faint, short, and choppy pulse (see Volume 4, Blood and Qi Disease section).
For conditions involving qi, blood, phlegm, and heat stagnation, select ripe black mulberries (*Morus alba* fruit), mash them, and boil into an extract; take mixed with water. Red mulberries, dried and powdered, are also effective when taken. Another prescription: burn large river snails with flesh to ash while preserving their medicinal nature, grind into powder, add a small amount of *Moschus* (Shexiang); if the lesion is moist, sprinkle dry powder; if dry, mix with oil for topical application. Another prescription: *Prunella vulgaris* (Xiakucao) has strong efficacy in dispersing qi stagnation and nourishing the Jueyin channel blood vessels, relieving alternating chills and fever; it can be relied upon for deficiency patterns; for excess patterns, assist with herbs that promote circulation and dispersion, combined with external moxibustion, yielding gradual results.
Divine formula for treating tetanus (Poshangfeng), blood coagulation stagnation, and migrating needle tips embedded in flesh: Burn crow feathers to ash, one qian, grind finely, and administer with wine. *Saposhnikoviae Radix* (Fangfeng) and *Fuller's Earth Scorpion* (Quanxie) are essential herbs. Tetanus often proves fatal; only *Fuller's Earth Scorpion* (Quanxie) can open blockages. Use ten scorpions, powdered, administered with wine, three times daily. Formula for tetanus with fever: *Trichosanthis Semen* (Gualouren, 9 qian), *Talcum* (Huashi, 1.5 qian), *Arisaema Cum Rizoma* (Nanxing), *Atractylodis Rhizoma* (Cangzhu), stir-fried *Phellodendri Cortex* (Chao Bai), *Red Peony Root* (Chishao), *Citrus Reticulatae Pericarpium* (Chenpi) (each 1 qian), *Coptidis Rhizoma* (Huanglian), *Scutellariae Radix* (Huangqin), *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* (Baizhi) (each 5 qian), *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (Sheng Gancao, small amount). Cut the ingredients, add three slices of fresh ginger, decoct, and take orally.
Plaster formula: *Boswelliae Resina* (Ruxiang), *Myrrhae Resina* (Moyao), *Hydrargyrum* (Shuiyin), *Angelicae Sinensis Radix* (Danggui) each 5 qian; *Chuanxiong Rhizome* (Chuanxiong), *Fritillariae Bulbus* (Beimu) each 1 liang; *Lithargyrum* (Huandan) 2.5 liang; *Sesamum Indicum Oil* (Mayou) 6 liang. Boil all ingredients except Lithargyrum and Hydrargyrum in Sesame Oil until black, filter out dregs, then add Lithargyrum and Hydrargyrum, boil again until black, stirring with peach and willow branches to form the plaster. Another formula: Combine *Os Draconis* (Sheng Longgu), *Draconis Sanguis* (Xuejie), and *Halloysit Rubrum* (Chishizhi) totaling 1 liang; *Capillis Carbonisatus* (Xuyuru) sized like a finger; *Cera Flava* (Huangla) 1 liang; *Resina Pini* (Baijiaoxiang) 1 liang; Sesame Oil as needed. First, boil Sesame Oil for three to five boils, remove *Capillis Carbonisatus*, add *Cera Flava* and *Resina Pini*, then add *Os Draconis*, *Draconis Sanguis*, and *Halloysit Rubrum*, stir evenly, place in a basin of water, cool, retrieve, and store in porcelain. For each sore, mold a thin slice and apply to the wound, cover with bamboo leaf externally, flip and reapply after three days, while internally administering blood-invigorating medicines. Another formula: Boil *Ilex Rotunda* leaves (Dongqingye) in rock sugar water for three to five boils, remove, press dry with stone, and apply leaves to the sore, changing twice daily. Another formula: Burn scalp dirt to ash, mix with jujube pulp to make a paste; first wash with green onion and pepper soup and cool, sprinkle *Calomelas* (Qingfen), then apply the aforementioned paste using umbrella paper as a backing. Another formula: *Concha Meretricis* (Gafen), aged tea (*Lacha*), *Sophorae Flavescentis Radix* (Kushen), *Indigo Naturalis* (Qingdai), *Lithargyrum* (Mituoseng); first clean the sore with river water, then apply mixed with pig lard from the twelfth lunar month. Another formula: *Cortex Lycii Radicis* (Digupi, 1 liang), *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* (Ganjie, half liang), *Cera Alba* (Baila, half liang). Add 4 liang of Sesame Oil, decoct *Cortex Lycii Radicis* and *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma* with gentle and strong fire alternately until cooked, filter dregs, add 1.5 liang of Lithargyrum and *Cera Alba*, boil fiercely until black, spread on white paper for application. Another formula: Boil *Ilex Rotunda* leaves in vinegar, then apply.
