For intestinal wind (Chang Feng, a condition characterized by intestinal bleeding) with bleeding occurring solely from the stomach and large intestine, Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin, Baical Skullcap Root), Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (Qinjiao, Largeleaf Gentian Root), Sophorae Fructus (Huajiao, Pagoda Tree Fruit), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma, Largetrifoliolious Bugbane Rhizome), and Indigo Naturalis (Qingdai, Natural Indigo) are frequently used. For cases complicated by wind pathogen, Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu, Atractylodes Rhizome), Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (Qinjiao), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao, White Peony Root), and Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfu, Nutgrass Galingale Rhizome) are added. Intestinal Wind Formula: Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu), Talcum (Huashi, Talc), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui, Chinese Angelica), Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdi, Unprepared Rehmannia Root), Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, Liquorice Root and Rhizome). This formula is often used for intestinal pain. Another formula: Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, Rhubarb Root and Rhizome, roasted, 3 qian), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui, 0.5 liang), Persicae Semen (Taoren, Peach Seed, 3 qian, peel and tip removed), Cortex (Pi, 1 liang, processed by roasting), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian, Coptis Rhizome, 1 liang, stir-fried), Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (Qinjiao, 1 liang), Sophorae Fructus (Huajiaozi, 1 liang), Arecae Semen (Binglang, Areca Seed, 0.5 liang), Gleditsiae Semen (Zaojiaoren, Chinese Honeylocust Abnormal Fruit, 5 qian), Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex (Huangbai, Amur Cork-tree Bark), Schizonepetae Spica (Jingjiesui, Fineleaf Schizonepeta Spike, each of the above 5 qian, stir-fried), and Aurantii Fructus (Zhiqiao, Bitter Orange, 5 qian). Grind the above into fine powder, make into pills using paste, the size of Firmianae Semen (Wutongzi, Phoenix Tree Seed). Take 50 pills each time with warm water before meals. For fresh blood in the stool, add Trachycarpi Petiolus Carbonisatus (Zongmaohui, Carbonized Fortune Windmill Palm Petiole Ash) and Nelumbinis Receptaculum Carbonisatum (Pengfanghui, Carbonized Lotus Receptacle Ash). The formula above specifically treats visceral toxin (Zang Du, heat toxin in the viscera) with bloody stool. For intestinal dispersion (Chang Pi, dysentery) with bloody stool due to dual affliction by dampness and heat, and irregular daily routine leading to postprandial diarrhea (Can Xie) and intestinal dispersion (Chang Pi), use Liangxue Dihuang Tang (Cool Blood Rehmannia Decoction). For damp toxin with bloody stool, use Danggui Hexue San (Chinese Angelica Harmonize Blood Powder). For intestinal wind prolapse (Chang Feng Tuoluo, prolapse of the rectum), use Che Ju Jiu (vehicle, bureau, dove? - likely a specific ingredient name) five to seven pieces, dry by roasting over fire, grind into powder, mix with vinegar, and apply by brushing on the affected area.
The therapeutic principle focuses primarily on cooling blood. For fistula (Lou Chuang, anal fistula), first administer a large dose of tonifying medicinals to generate qi and blood, mainly Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen, Ginseng), Astragali Radix (Huangqi, Milkvetch Root), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu, Largehead Atractylodes Rhizome), and Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong, Szechuan Lovage Rhizome). Externally, use Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fuzi, Prepared Common Monkshood Daughter Root) powder, mix with saliva to make a cake, as thick as a coin, place on the affected area for moxibustion. Only induce mild warmth, avoid causing pain. Replace when dry. Then, use the dried powder as before, make a cake and apply moxibustion. Stop when feeling fatigued, resume moxibustion the next day. Continue until the flesh becomes level as a sign of efficacy. Still use the aforementioned qi and blood tonifying medicinals to decoct into a plaster for topical application. Alternatively, moxibustion with Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fuzi) slices is also acceptable. This method is also suitable for carbuncles, abscesses, sores, and boils on the limbs that do not heal for a long time. The general method for hemorrhoids (Zhi Chuang) is to use Scutellariae Radix (Tiaoqin, a type of Huangqin) to cool the large intestine; Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Renshen), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian), Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdi), and Sophorae Fructus (Huajiao) to cool blood and generate blood; Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong) and Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui) to harmonize blood; Aurantii Fructus (Zhiqiao) to relax the intestines; and Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma) to lift yang. For external use, decoct Galla Chinensis (Wubeizi, Chinese Gall), Natrii Sulfas (Poxiao, Glauber's Salt), Taxilli Herba (Sangjisheng, Chinese Taxillus Herb), and Nelumbinis Receptaculum (Lianpeng, Lotus Receptacle) for fumigation and washing. For swelling, apply Momordicae Semen (Mubiezi, Cochinchina Momordica Seed) and Galla Chinensis (Wubeizi) powder topically. Another formula: Decoct Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian, 2 liang) into a paste, add an equal amount of Natrii Sulfas (Mangxiao, Mirabilite), and add Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, Borneol, 1 qian). Apply to hemorrhoids to reduce swelling. For pre-existing hemorrhoids and fistula, if another lump grows near the anus, with thickened skin, swelling, and suppuration, discharging pus from the fistula opening, treat as food stagnation pouring downward. Take pills made from Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian), Ferulae Resina (Awei, Asafoetida), Massa Medicata Fermentata (Shenqu, Medicated Leaven), Crataegi Fructus (Shanzha, Hawthorn Fruit), Persicae Semen (Taoren), Forsythiae Fructus (Lianqiao, Weeping Forsythia Capsule), Sophorae Fructus (Huajiao), and Cornu Rhinocerotis (Xijiao, Rhinoceros Horn). If the hemorrhoid head points upward, it indicates excessive heat in the large intestine causing contraction upward. Use Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) to resolve toxin, adding Aurantii Fructus (Zhiqiao), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), Sophorae Fructus (Huajiao), and Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (Qinjiao) for washing. Use Schizonepetae Herba (Jingjie, Fineleaf Schizonepeta Herb), Natrii Sulfas (Poxiao), and Taxilli Herba (Sangjisheng) to relieve pain, dispel wind, resolve toxin, and cool heat in the large intestine. For swelling, add Galla Chinensis (Wubeizi) and Momordicae Semen (Mubiezi). For hemorrhoids and fistula, cool the blood of the large intestine and relax the large intestine. Remove the pulp from Aurantii Fructus (Zhiqiao), add Crotonis Semen (Badou, Croton Seed), wrap with iron wire, boil thoroughly, remove Crotonis Semen (Badou), and use the Aurantii Fructus (Zhiqiao) in medicinals. Mash with pills, dry with decoction, and use. Another formula for fistula: Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong, 5 qian), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin, Manchurian Wildginger, 2.5 qian), and Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi, Dahurian Angelica Root, 2.5 qian). Grind the above into fine powder, decoct into a decoction for daily consumption. For diseases in the lower body, take before meals; for diseases in the upper body, take after meals. Depending on the size of the sore, take yellow hemp root from the previous year, scrape off the bark, twist into a rope, and insert into the hole until it cannot go further. For recent sores, apply plaster externally. One person had hemorrhoids near the anus that did not heal after formation, with three needle-sized holes discharging pus upon exertion. Use Scutellariae Radix (Huangtiaoqin, yellow Tiaoqin), Forsythiae Fructus (Lianqiao), and Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (Qinjiao). Grind the above into powder, make into pills with Qu (likely Massa Medicata Fermentata, Shenqu). Formula for treating hemorrhoids: Realgar (Xionghuang), Fel (Dan, bile), and Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, Piannao). Mix evenly and apply. For treating prolapsed hemorrhoids (Fan Hua Zhi), decoct Schizonepetae Herba (Jingjie), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng, Divaricate Saposhnikovia Root), and Natrii Sulfas (Poxiao) for washing. Then apply powder made from Momordicae Semen (Mubiezi) and Curcumae Radix (Yujin, Turmeric Root Tuber) mixed with a small amount of Borneolum Syntheticum (Longnao, Borneol) and water. Another formula: Use one slice of Allii Sativi Bulbus (Dasuan, Garlic). Make a cake with scalp dirt (Tougou). First place the scalp dirt cake on the hemorrhoid head, then place the garlic slice on the outside, and apply moxibustion. To treat chronic abscess with sequestrum (Xiu Gu) and fistula with holes, take the tibia of a black-bone chicken, fill it with high-quality Arsenicum (Pishuang, Arsenic Trioxide), seal with salt mud, heat until red-hot, remove, place on the ground to eliminate fire toxin, remove the mud, grind the bone into fine powder, make into pills with cooked rice, the size of millet grains, insert into the hole using a paper spill, and apply plaster.
