Chen (51 years old) presented with edema of the dorsum of the foot and abdominal distension/fullness. Accompanied by a sensation of bloating, scanty and difficult urination and defecation. This pattern belongs to deficiency-cold of Spleen and Stomach Yang, caused by excessive asceticism in diet and physical debility. Temporarily employ methods to unblock the Fu-organs, with a slight addition of herbs to drain the Liver.
Raw Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (2 qian), Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (1 qian), Evodiae Fructus (0.7 qian), Tsaoko Fructus Seed (0.8 qian), Dried Ginger (1 qian), Poria (3 qian), Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (1 qian).
Cao (54 years old): Yesterday, after administering bitter-pungent herbs to diffuse and unblock the Fu-organs, and sour-astringent herbs to drain the Liver, the edema of the dorsum of the foot and abdominal distension/fullness did not decrease. Belching continued, and the distending sensation persisted. Both urination and defecation were obstructed. The pulse was deep and hidden. This presents as an image of water accumulation due to blood stasis (Jueyin-Yangming disharmony with fluid retention). Re-prescribe a method to drain Jueyin and unblock Yangming.

Yang (8 years old): Water swelling and distension in the lower abdomen; both feet are edematous. Urine cannot be passed. Warming and unblocking the Taiyang channel can yield efficacy.

Chen (16 years old): Liver Qi is rampant and horizontal, causing abdominal pain. Previously suffered from Jian Ju (abdominal masses). The treatment principle should be to soothe and drain.
