Lu (60 years old), after an illness, suffered spleen and stomach injury due to dietary relapse. Symptoms included lack of appetite and refusal to eat, tidal fever, dry mouth, belching with abdominal distension, and a sensation of fullness and obstruction in the chest and epigastrium. This belongs to the category where the Qi mechanism of the Stomach Fu organ lacks dissemination. As stated in the *Neijing* (Classic of Internal Medicine): "When food intake is scanty but Qi is excessive," the pathogen resides in the Stomach and Lung.
Prescription: Chuan Shihu (Dendrobium officinale, 4 qian), Chao Jiao Banxia (Fried Scorched Pinellia Rhizome, 1.5 qian), Jiao Guya (Scorched Rice Sprout, 1 qian), Nan Huafen (Nardostachys Radix, 1.5 qian), Xinhui Pi (Citrus reticulata Peel, 1 qian), Kuai Fuling (Poria Cocos, 3 qian), Zhishi Pi (Aurantium Fructus Pericarpium, 1 qian).
Jia (15 years old), presents with deficiency of Zheng Qi (Upright Qi) combined with internal heat, constipation, yet eating feels comfortable. This is primarily due to the failure of Yin fluids in the Lung and Stomach to recover.
Prescription: Chuan Shihu (Dendrobium officinale, 4 qian), Chao Jiao Banxia Qu (Fried Scorched Pinellia Fermented Curd, 1.5 qian), Zhishi Pi (Aurantium Fructus Pericarpium, 1 qian), Chao Maidong (Fried Ophiopogon Tuber, 1.5 qian), Xinhui Pi (Citrus reticulata Peel, 1 qian), Sheng Guya (Raw Rice Sprout, 1 qian), Kuai Fuling (Poria Cocos, 3 qian), Da Maren (Cannabis Seed, 1.5 qian).
Qian (43 years old), body shows no chills or fever, pulse is slow, stool is loose, and food intake is small. The Stomach Qi is just awakening, but the Spleen is weak and fails to govern transportation and transformation. Such symptoms are common after illness.
Prescription: Sheng Baizhu (Raw Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, 2 qian), Xinhui Pi (Citrus reticulata Peel, 1 qian), Jian Zexie (Alisma Rhizome, 1.5 qian), Yizhi Ren (Alpinia Oxyphylla Fruit, roasted and ground, 8 fen), Jiao Maiya (Scorched Hordeum Sprout, 1 qian), Fuling (Poria Cocos, 3 qian), Nongpo (Magnolia Bark, 1 qian).
Ke (24 years old), pathogens have departed but Zheng Qi (Upright Qi) is deficient, leading to sudden inability to recover. Stomach Qi is not vigorous, resulting in no desire to eat. Treatment should nourish the Yin of the Lung and Stomach.
Prescription: Chuan Shihu (Dendrobium officinale, 4 qian), Chao Jiao Banxia (Fried Scorched Pinellia Rhizome, 1.5 qian), Zhishi Pi (Aurantium Fructus Pericarpium, 1 qian), Chao Maidong (Fried Ophiopogon Tuber, 7 fen), Xinhui Pi (Citrus reticulata Peel, 1 qian), Sheng Guya (Raw Rice Sprout, 1 qian), Kuai Yun Fuling (Yunnan Poria Cocos, 3 qian).
Yao (43 years old), suffered from Winter-Warmth disease for over a month. After taking several doses of medicine that focused solely on attacking pathogens, Zheng Qi (Upright Qi) was severely depleted. Residual heat remains in the Shu Ji (pivot mechanism), and Yin injury has not recovered, causing sweating and leakage, dry mouth, hunger without ability to eat. These are all caused by damage from bitter-cold herbs used to treat the disease, preventing the Stomach Qi from reviving. Treatment should nourish the Lung and Stomach and clear residual heat.
Prescription: Chuan Hu (Dendrobium, 3 qian), Chao Jiao Banxia (Fried Scorched Pinellia Rhizome, 1.5 qian), Zhishi Pi (Aurantium Fructus Pericarpium, 1 qian), Huai Xiaomai (Triticum aestivum, 3 qian), Xinhui Pi (Citrus reticulata Peel, 1 qian), Sheng Guya (Raw Rice Sprout, 1 qian), Fushen (Poria Cocos with Hostwood, 2 qian).
Wang (17 years old), the rapid pulse at the Right Cun position has subsided, and bowel movements have resumed. However, Qi remains timid/weak. The plan is to nourish the Lung and Stomach to regulate residual pathogens.
Prescription: Zhi Yangshen (Prepared American Ginseng, 8 fen), Chao Jiao Banxia (Fried Scorched Pinellia Rhizome, 1.5 qian), Bi Xie (Dioscorea Hypoglauca Rhizome, 3 qian), Jian Maidong (Selected Ophiopogon Tuber, 3 qian), Xinhui Pi (Citrus reticulata Peel, 1 qian), Lianqiao Qiao (Forsythia Fruit Shell, 1 qian), Kuai Fuling (Poria Cocos, 1 qian), Cha Hu (Dendrobium stem, 2 qian).
