Treats *Madao Chuang* (a type of abscess or tumor occurring in the axilla or neck, resembling a machete), where the mass is hard as stone. It extends from below the ear to the *Xuepen* acupoint (located at the angle of the mandible), or spreads to the shoulder, or lies under the hypochondrium. These locations correspond to the pathways of the Hand-Shaoyang and Foot-Shaoyang meridians, as well as common sites for *Luoli* (scrofula/cervical lymphadenitis). The condition may spread across the chin or reach the *Jiache* acupoint. If the mass is hard and unruptured, it belongs to disorders of the Foot-Yangming meridian. If two sores have already ruptured with purulent discharge, or if goiters (*Yingliu*) develop, large as a sheng or dou measure, and persist without rupturing or resolving over time, this formula treats all such cases.
Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, both stir-fried with wine), Kunbu (Sargassum Herba, washed), Gualougen (Trichosanthis Radix, washed with wine), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) [each 5 qian], Guangzhu (Curcumae Aromatae Rhizoma, stir-fried), Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma, baked), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus) [each 3 qian], Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) [6 fen], Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) [each 2 qian], Guiwei (Radix Angelicae Sinensis caulis), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) [each 5 qian], Longdancao (Gentianae Radix, washed with wine, 4 qian), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) [1 qian, half raw, half stir-fried], Haizao (Sargassum Herba) [5 qian].
For each dose, use 7 qian of the herbs. Add 2 zhong of water. Soak for half a day, then decoct until 1 zhong remains. While taking the medicine, lie with the head elevated and feet lowered, and swallow slowly.
This is effective for treating scrofula (*Luoli*).
Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) [8 qian], Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix) [5 qian], Longdancao (Gentianae Radix, stir-fried with wine, 5 qian), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) [5 qian], Guiwei (Radix Angelicae Sinensis caulis) [3 qian], Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix) [5 qian], Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus) [5 qian], Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix, baked, 3 qian), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, stir-fried with wine, 5 qian), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, stir-fried with wine, 5 qian), Guangzhu (Curcumae Aromatae Rhizoma, baked, 5 qian), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, honey-fried, 5 qian), Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma, stir-fried with wine, 5 qian), Shengqin (Scutellariae Radix, raw) [4 qian], Xiakucao (Prunellae Spica) [5 qian].
Take half of the mixture, grind into powder, and make pills using refined honey, sized like wu-tzu (walnut seeds). Take 120 pills per dose, washed down with warm water. The remaining half should be sliced; take 5 qian per dose, decocted in water.
Applying this paste to sub-sores (ulcerated scrofula) is highly effective.
Pian Nao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 1 qian, separately ground), Qingfen (Calomelas), Ruxiang (Olibanum Resina) [each 2 qian, separately ground], Shexiang (Moschus) [3 qian, separately ground], Moyao (Myrrha Resina) [4 qian], Huangdan (Lithargyrum, processed by flying, 5 liang).
Use 1 jin of clear sesame oil. First add Huangdan and boil, stirring with a willow branch. Then add seven stalks of Han'er Cong (Allium species). Add one stalk at a time; boil until charred, remove the stalk, and repeat until all stalks are used up. Stir continuously over low heat to maintain appropriate temperature. Finally, add Borneol and other medicines, mix evenly, and store in a porcelain vessel.
Another prescription: For post-ulceration of scrofula sores, apply ointment.
Ruxiang (Olibanum Resina), Moyao (Myrrha Resina), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) [each 2.5 qian], Chishizhi (Halloysit Rubrum) [2 qian], Ercha (Catechu) [3 fen], Qingfen (Calomelas) [2 fen], Bingpian (Borneolum Syntheticum) [0.5 fen, separately ground].
Grind all ingredients into fine powder. Boil 2 liang of vegetable oil, add 1 liang of yellow beeswax, melt, and mix in the powder. Remove from heat, add Borneol, stir, and collect.
Another prescription: For treating scrofula. Cook castor beans (Bimazu) thoroughly, peel off the skin, and chew thoroughly. Take 2-3 grains before sleep, gradually increasing to more than ten grains. This is very effective.
Another prescription: For treating scrofula, whether ruptured or not. Long-term consumption leads to natural resolution.
Tufuling (Smilacis Glabrae Rhizoma), Baixianpi (Dictamni Cortex), Baiqianniu (Semen Pharbitidis) [each 2.5 qian], Zaojiaozizi (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina Fructus) [7 pieces].
Decoct 2 zhong of water until 0.8 zhong remains. Take long after meals.
