Those presenting with colored spots but without granular elevations are termed *Dan Du* (erysipelas, a condition characterized by red, swollen, hot, and painful skin lesions). Those presenting with granular elevations that appear and disappear immediately, only to reappear, are termed *Zhen* (rash). This pattern belongs to Wind-Heat pathogenic factor, complicated by Phlegm-Dampness. The pathology of *Zhen* involves Heat and Phlegm accumulating in the Lung organ; if the rash spreads from the limbs into the abdomen, the prognosis is fatal. It is also stated that *Yin Zhen* (urticaria) mostly pertains to the Spleen organ; it appears faintly within the skin, hence the name *Yin Zhen*. Upon eruption, it is mostly pruritic; if accompanied by numbness or loss of sensation, this indicates a differentiation involving Wind and Dampness. Red coloration indicates an accompanying Fire transformation. Mild Heat manifests as red macules/papules; severe Heat manifests as black macules/papules. Cases with red macules/papules have nine survivors for every one death; cases with black macules/papules have ten deaths for every one survivor.
The general treatment for *Zhen* should be adjusted according to the severity and specific circumstances.

Crush the above herbs, decoct in water, and take orally. If body pain is present, add Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) and Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix); if phlegm-cough is present, add Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma).
Treats Dan Zhen caused by Blood-Wind and Blood-Heat.

Yet another prescription: Mix Fulonggan (Dragon's Liver, calcined earth from the bottom of a cooking hearth) with cucumber juice and take orally to remove red spots effectively.
Treats Yin Ban (yin-type macules/papules) caused by combined internal injury and external contraction. This arises from rootless and unanchored fire gathering in the chest, steaming upward to the Lung, and transmitting to the skin. The appearance resembles insect bites rather than the brocade-patterned erysipelas.
