In the three months of spring, the syndrome of "Green Tendons Pulling" (Qingjin Qian) originates from the Shaoyin and Shaoyang channels. When the pathogen moves from the Shaoyin channel to involve the Foot-Shaoyang channel, the Qi of Shaoyang begins to emerge, while the Qi of Shaoyin begins to decline. Yin and Yang become constrained and depressed between the couli (interstitial spaces of the skin and hair follicles) and the body surface, leading to pathological changes involving both the exterior and interior. If the disease initiates from the Foot-Shaoyang channel and extends to the Shaoyin channel, the zang-fu organs are affected by pestilential qi, resulting in illness.
This is a disease of yin-yang toxic vapors affecting the Liver zang-fu system. Symptoms include spasmodic tension of the tendons on both sides of the neck and back, preceded by aversion to cold followed by fever, presenting an apparent contradiction in symptoms. If the fu organ is deficient and injured by yin pathogens, there will be stiffness and rigidity of the waist, retraction of the legs making extension impossible, a sensation of internal collapse in the abdomen, and visual disturbances such as seeing spots before the eyes. This formula is indicated for this condition. (It should not be prepared as a decoction powder.)

This is a disease of yin-yang warm toxins affecting the Liver zang-fu system. Symptoms include spasmodic tension of the tendons in the neck and back, preceded by aversion to cold followed by fever, presenting an apparent contradiction in symptoms. If the zang organ is excess and damaged by yang toxins, there will be yellowing of the eyes and rigidity of the neck and back. Attempts to turn the body may result in twisting or lateral deviation of the whole body. (It should not be prepared as a decoction powder.)

In the three months of summer, the disease of "Red Vessels Pulling Pain" (Chimai Che Tong) occurs, originating from the Shaoyin and Taiyang channels.
This is a disease of yin-yang warm toxic vapors affecting the Heart zang-fu system. Symptoms include body heat, pain in the skin and flesh with raised lesions, presenting an apparent contradiction in symptoms. If the zang organ is excess and invaded by yang toxins, there will be dry mouth, cracked tongue, and throat obstruction. If the fu organ is deficient and injured by yin pathogens, there will be uncontrollable trembling and惊动 (startle/agitation). (It should not be prepared as a decoction powder.)
