(Without distinguishing which meridian is affected, since the hundred vessels share one origin, all are liable to be diseased. The patient desires to eat but cannot, desires to sleep but cannot, desires to walk but cannot; appears cold but is not actually cold, appears hot but is not actually hot; bitter taste in the mouth, dark yellow urine, silent and withdrawn (Heihei), medicines fail to work, and vomiting occurs after taking them as if possessed by spirits. The physical appearance resembles that of a healthy person, while the pulse is slightly rapid. If headache occurs during urination, recovery takes sixty days; if there is no headache but shivering chills occur, recovery takes forty days; if urination is comfortable but accompanied only by dizziness, recovery takes twenty days.)
Baihe Bing (Lily Disease). After sweating (use Baihe Zhi Mu Tang [Lily and Anemarrhena Decoction]). After purging (use Huashi Daizhe Tang [Talc and Hematite Decoction]). After vomiting (use Baihe Jizi Tang [Lily and Egg Yolk Decoction]). Without prior sweating, vomiting, or purging:
If heat is present (use Baihe Huashi Tang [Lily and Talc Decoction]).
(The condition resembles Taiyang disease with silent withdrawal and desire to sleep, yet eyes cannot close, restlessness when lying down or rising up. Erosion in the throat is called Huo (Confusion); erosion in the yin organs is called Hu (Fox). Desire to eat is absent, aversion to food odors.
Erosion in the upper part results in hoarseness (use Gancao Xi Xin Tang [Licorice and Heartwarming Decoction]. Erosion in the lower part results in dry throat (wash with Kushen Tang [Sophora Root Decoction]). Erosion in the anus: (grind Xionghuang [Realgar] into powder, mix with crushed Mugwort leaves, place between two tiles, burn, and fumigate towards the anus).
(This syndrome was omitted by later scholars or confused with Huoxu Syndrome, which is particularly ridiculous.)
Rapid pulse without fever, slight irritability, silent withdrawal and desire to sleep, sweating. In the first three to four days, eyes are red like those of a turtledove. By the seventh or eighth day, the area around the pupils turns black. If the patient can eat, it indicates that pus has formed (use Chidou Danggui San [Red Bean and Angelica Powder]).
Note: This condition is an ocular ulcer. Before pus formation, toxic vapors have not been expelled, causing abdominal fullness and inability to eat. Once pus forms and toxins exit, the abdomen relaxes, allowing eating.
Facial redness mottled like brocade patterns, sore throat, vomiting of pus and blood. Treatable within five days, untreatable after seven days (use Shengma Biejia Tang [Cimicifuga and Turtle Shell Decoction]).
Blue-green complexion, body pain as if beaten with a club, sore throat. Treatable within five days, untreatable after seven days (use Shengma Biejia Tang without Xionghuang [Realgar] and Shujiao [Zanthoxylum]).
Note: Later scholars' discussions on Yin Du (Yin Toxin) refer to severe Yin syndromes, while Yang Du refers to extreme Yang syndromes; this does not align with Zhang Zhongjing's original intent, so these sections are deleted.
(Critical and malignant symptoms of Jueyin disease were deemed fatal by Bian Que and Sun Simiao; Zhang Zhongjing provided no treatment method. Here, methods from Haizang of Nanyang are adopted due to differences in Yin and Yang. For women, retracted nipples correspond to this syndrome.)
Jueyin Bing (Jueyin Disease). When both Cun and Chi pulses are deep and short, tongue retraction and scrotal contraction must occur; toxic vapors have entered the abdomen (use Dachengqi Tang [Major Order the Qi Decoction]). Irritability, fullness, scrotal contraction, obstruction of both stool and urine, fever with craving for water indicate pathogenic factors in the interior (use Dachengqi Tang [Major Order the Qi Decoction]). Cold extremities, cyanotic fingernails, obstruction of both stool and urine indicate blockage of the lower pathways (use Zhengyang San [Upright Yang Powder] or Huiyang Dan [Return Yang Pill]).
