The herbs are ground into fine powder. Each dose is two qian, with a small amount of salt added, taken by mixing with boiling water.
Baoming Lingyangjiao San (Preservation of Life Antelope Horn Powder): Used for treating corneal opacity (shuiyi) that persists for a long time.
Ingredients: Lingyangjiao (Antelope Horn), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) in equal parts; Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) in half the amount.
Preparation and Administration: The above herbs are ground into powder. Half is made into honey pills, sized like paulownia seeds. Each dose consists of 50-70 pills. The other half is decocted in water, and the pills are swallowed with the decoction. For fa xian yi (depressed corneal opacity), similar formulas to Lingyangjiao San are used, with dosage adjusted according to the patient's condition. If the patient has yin deficiency with heat, Shenxian Tuiyun Wan (Immortal Cloud-Dispelling Pill) should be taken concurrently.
Dongyuan Buyang Tang (Dongyuan Yang-Supplementing Decoction): Treats conditions where yang fails to overcome yin, i.e., excess yin and deficient yang, leading to obstruction of the nine orifices. It causes cyan-white corneal opacities appearing at the canthi. This occurs because the yang qi of the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian is constrained within the Foot Taiyang Bladder Meridian and Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, preventing it from ascending to the eyes, thus causing internal blockage by cyan opacity. Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) enters the Foot Taiyang and Foot Shaoyin meridians, akin to being at the "nine springs" (deep depths), thereby nourishing the liver's yang qi and promoting its upward surge. This method first tonifies yang, then clears fire from the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian at the biao (superficial/distal) points of the Foot Taiyin Spleen Meridian, clearing fire hidden below in the yang. As stated in the *Neijing* (Classic of Internal Medicine): "When yin is excess and yang is deficient, one should first tonify yang, then drain yin." Take Shengyang Tang (Ascending-Yang Decoction) on an empty stomach daily, and Xiayin Wan (Yin-Draining Pill) before bed. Proper regimen and maintenance are required to achieve physical balance; take this formula when the weather is clear to tonify yang, allowing it to ascend to the extremities of the Liver Meridian, thereby clearing the orifices of the eyes.
