Diet fails to enter, the physique becomes withered and emaciated; tonifying Qi causes Blood to become drier; tonifying Blood causes Qi to become more deficient; assisting Stomach Qi makes night sweats difficult to stop; nourishing blood vessels causes obstruction in the chest and diaphragm. The method should be to treat Qi and Blood simultaneously. The prescription is as follows:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (1 qian), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (1 qian), Fu Ling (Poria) (2 qian), Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (8 fen), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (5 fen), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (2 qian), Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) (3 qian), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (1 qian), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) (3 qian), Shen Qu (Massa Medicata Fermentata) (5 fen), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix) (5 qian), Gu Ya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus) (1 qian).
Decoct in water and take orally.
This formula tonifies both Qi and Blood, having the same efficacy as Ba Zhen Tang (Eight Treasure Decoction), but surpassing it because its brilliance lies in the method of harmonization within tonification.
Generally, people suffer from internal injury to Zheng Qi (Upright Qi) due to irregular eating and overwork, causing Qi to descend. The Spleen and Stomach fail to transform and transport, and dietary intake fails to be distributed and transformed, often evolving into Lao Zhai (Consumption/Chronic Deficiency Syndrome).
If one suspects that poor appetite is due to Fire in the Spleen and Stomach or accumulation of meat and grains, and lightly administers herbs such as Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), Shan Zha (Crataegi Fructus), and Mai Ya (Hordei Fructus Germinatus), or heavily administers Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas), Qian Niu (Pharbitidis Semen), and Ba Dou (Crotonis Fructus), mixing them indiscriminately, it will inevitably lead to abdominal distension and fullness, gradually forming a chronic deficiency syndrome. If one had first used herbs to lift and raise, how could it have developed into consumption? The prescription is as follows:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix) (1 qian), Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) (1 qian), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (1 qian), Gan Cao (Licorice Root) (1 qian), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) (3 qian), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) (3 qian), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (3 qian), Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) (5 fen).
Decoct in water and take orally.
Whenever the Cun (Inch) pulse on the right hand is larger than the Cun pulse on the left hand, it indicates an internal injury syndrome. Regardless of how the Guan (Bar) and Chi (Cubit) pulses on the left or right are, administering this formula yields miraculous effects without exception.
[This formula is essentially Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction), with adjustments made to the dosages. The brilliance of this formula lies in mixing Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) and Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) among Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), and Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) to lift the Supreme Yang Qi, preventing it from sinking into the Yin compartments. Particularly brilliant is the addition of Gan Cao (Licorice Root) and Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) to resolve conflicts within the tonification, ensuring that tonifying agents do not become overly cloying and lifting agents do not deviate excessively. Thus, upon ingestion, the patient remains comfortable, and the therapeutic effect is achieved swiftly like an echo.]
